As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
Never having anything nice, as who can afford a 15 dollar charcoal starter, I used just coffee cans with
church key holes punched in them, or used a sheet of aluminum rolled up with square openings cut in the bottom to start my charcoal.
When JYG gave us the free trailer which was not free, inside were two charcoal starters. I used the one on Thanksgiving, and even though I put fluid inside and then filled it with charcoal and lit it up, it just did not want to burn.
It did not help having a southwest wind which was cold as the Arctic that day either blowing on the chimney, so I was upset in having a delay I knew was coming.
So out into Grandpas trees I went looking for a metal cover as that wicked one threw away everything. Nothing to be seen though, but some old pie tins and then I noticed this chimney elbow which of course was crushed, as why just throw something good away, when you can stomp on the efffing and destroy it.
I like hammering metal, so I brought it along, put the pie tin on top to hopefully contain the heat, and by the time I got done hammering and stomping on the elbow, and put it on the chimney, things were burning better.
The elbow really made the sparks fly as I had turned it away from the wind, so I had vacuum, heat containment and the loveliest protection from the wind.
I have no idea if there are directions for these charcoal starters as people who live in trailers and look like trash do not have those things around. I do know that this elbow on top was a real asset and is remaining with this chimney for Christmas fyre and sparks.
Next time I'm putting some cardboard under the chimney as there is a hole, soaking it with some starter, and I did do this on the empty bag and got a nice POOF as the thing took to liking fire, but I believe this elbow is the solution. So if you got a junked elbow, I think it is of benefit, especially in windy locations.
.........and no one will pay me nor give me credit for this too. Oh and for the Darwin, the chimney is burn your hands HOT so you do not touch it.
That is the Lame Cherry charcoal turbo starter.
