As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
When you are poor and thousands of lurkers do not donate, you get the above trailer for 200 dollars which was about to end up in the metal boat to China, but my junk dealer neighbor sold it to me.
This was in December and we had shit weather every day until some time in March when I thought I would go out and cut off the bent metal. I did that, melted down the 44 year old Makita grinder and we got HAARP shit weather again.
Most pleased about this, as I was supposed to get this fixed to haul a bull.
So put on a new bumper jack. Picked up this top hat from JYG for 5 dollars to bend around the front of the trailer as I do not have the time nor machines to fabricate a rounded front end.
This is the end result and I hurt like hell. This is New Holland Blue and had to buy a new 50 dollar Wagner spray gun as the old one the old man had would not work. I told Richard and Stephanie it looks like a sardine can. Is the best I could do on nothing.
The roof is old corrugated metal. 6 pieces bolted together. I got that up there by rolling into a tube and tying to and shoving it up there.
The side is a 1 by 12 by 16 feet plank.
I had to put a brace in the middle to hold up the distance for the roof. The braces...........do not ask where they came from, but it was square metal tubing like you find when idiots run over highway signs and total their vehicles.
Paint was 50 bucks. JYG gave me a totaled spare rim, (six hole rim) for a G 78 15R tire, now obsolete, that tire cost 100, and is a bit smaller than the original as things are replacements now for 50 year old trailers. Bolts and nuts and washers, more change. I figure I got a beat the hell, heavy old steel trailer that will outlast aluminum 10,000 dollar ones. I will get used to the sardine look as big shots who carpenter have lots of flat top trailers from people who pay their bills so they can buy them.
I just don't like to see how America junks everything and treats things like shit. This thing will haul appliances, bulls, ATV's and whatever comes up as well as any 5000 dollar dude trailer.
I think I got barely 400 in it now. Doubt I would have get it out of it, but I did not do this to sell it. I wanted something heavy. that had been beat up, welded in where they broke it, so it is now going to hold, and now instead of looking like something the Indians would pull along to the pow wow, it looks like something some Norwegian would put his big sardines in.
Allot of shitty weather, shitty living and whatever other shit I went through from the taking home of this prize to it's completion on May 23rd.
PS: It was so dry when I was welding this that I actually caught the wood floor on fire 3 times. Never had that happen before. But it is a 500 year drought.
* Some pointers. Stockmen are all lazy assholes who never clean the shit out of their trailers, so it rots the wood so most need floors, allot of work and expense. They have shitty kids who break trailers. They are shitty stockmen who overload trailers and break them.
The sell them to some well driller or other asshole who beats the shit out of them, they rust out more, probably gets some welding on them, and then end up with no one wanting the tar baby. Then some person not getting donations from deadbeats thinks 200 bucks is not a bad deal to give a beat to hell thing a home, as I'm beat to hell too, so I do it and weld hours on it, fabricate days on it, fix it to the point that it takes 3 hours to paint the thing and the world ends up with that "what the hell is that"? trailer.
It deserved a better end than it was going to get and we both deserved a better life than what we got dealt.
I realize most of these projects are beyond you as most can not do metal work, most can not weld, most can not do anything but lurk. It is possible though for those who have some gumption to at least try as I learn all the time in this shit, more than I care to and more than it is worth.
