Miss Fix It Pick Up Topper

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

This a Miss Fix It post.

JYG and Judas Priest kindly obtained for us another wood wagon trailer, made from a pick up box, a Ford F 150. The person though that built it, included wooden side panels which weighed about 350 pounds. These trailers ....let me think........if wheat was 40 pounds..........100 bushel, that is 4000 pounds, but if you start off with 350 pounds extra that gets to be too much for pick ups.

So after thinking it over, God led to the point of getting a pick up topper from the salvage. JYG had one.........was 20 bucks, but the black bubble glass panel was broken. I had 220 dollars into this thing, well another 15 in clamps and bolts for the topper, so that is enough for a cheap solution as I suspect replacement panels are pricey.

So we went back, dug around where it was standing, and I was delighted in I found a 4 x 24 glass side window and a large chunk of black plastic. Brought them home, and enter Shoe Goo again, as the glass I did not have the aluminum support, so Shoe Goo was the gasket, and a careful vice grip clamp to hold it in place and not break the glass until the goo was solid.

As you can see the next was the jig saw puzzle of this black plastic. I was delighted in I only had one small piece missing. It also is another teaching lesson when you run into this as someone broke your window in the meltdown or you have bullet holes in them........and gee no glass for windows to replace them.

Hmmmm.........

What to do

Of course you have donated a great deal of money to the Lame Cherry so you will not feel guilty and be going to hell for all the information you did not steal from here. So the solution is just Shoe Goo welding in running bead along the edges on a hot day, and that stuff goops up fast.

For the one  missing piece, JYG had given us some packing tape and I put it on the inside, and just put a 1/4 inch goo over that and it was all fixed.

But it doesn't look neat. Big deal as it keeps out the snow, rain, ice and wind, so your wood or you does not get wet which is the point.

Shoe Goo is around 7 bucks a tube. I have a supply as I have come to rely on this stuff for lots of things.

I'm delighted for this fix and when your windows have bullet holes in them, you will be delighted too as you have an answer in no bugs getting in to bite you and no cold air freezing you to death, and you do not feel guilty as you are not a loathsome piece of satan that stole from a poor girl.
