Table of Duties: Parents

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

There is a fact that sperm and ovaries should require training to be produced, and husbands with wives, should examine if they are children yet, before engaging in sex, in bringing lives from  God into this world, in order to train them into Christian children

Parents are to be even handed when it comes to their children in their being no favorites. The Virgin Mary knew from the first that her Son, Jesus, was a unique Person, and at a wedding feast when the refreshments ran out, she told the servants there to do whatever Jesus ordered.
For Mary to be ordering servants around at a feast, I suspect the "governor of the feast", was probably the father of the bride, and the bridegroom who was summoned was one of Jesus earthly brothers. Jesus was looked to as the head of the family  in being first born, and  that would conclude that Joseph had died, as there are references that Mary's brother, Joseph, was then legally the head of this household.

John 2:5

His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

Parents can place a great deal of stress on a child  by thrusting onto them responsibilities they never desired.
Parents can as in the case of Jacob in favoring Joseph, almost got him murdered, and did get him sold  into slavery

Parents in Mary's case turn to the child  with the abilities, not Jesus brother, and parents after making mistakes in other children, usually find the youngest to not be more well behaved, but the parent more tolerant which instills envy in  the other children.

Genesis 37: 3

Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.

Good parents are never to frustrate their children, to make them angry and quit. There is  a simple formula for  raising children and by the Holy  Ghost, I am  not going to embellish this was lengthy sentences, but instead  get to the point, of training and instructing of God's Word.

To Parents

Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord. Eph. 6:4

A parent sets the example first, in treating the other parent with respect for a unified joining the children can find stability with which  is fair.
All children are not the same, in some are a trial every day, and  some raise themselves.  Parents have to always though provide an even hand with discipline being fair for all, and the same requirements are expected of  all.

Discipline does not mean beating a child, but the rod in the Bible is a rod of wood, One does not use a rod on babies, and that is the essence of  the parents first have to be adults, who are not making up for their own failures.

I will provide two examples in what parents should never do.

For my parents, my intelligent dad always  felt stupid, and he took great pleasure in berating, bullying and belittling his children, which taught them never to trust him, while his favorite got away with  everything unless he was in a spiteful  mood.
My mother, was a woman of little affection, and strict discipline who found ways to throw cold water on everything I tried, as she did not want to be left alone in the hell of her making.

For TL, her parents were intelligent, and had grand dreams of degrees. They  though instead opted for sex and making a disaster of their lives, trading on their family's accomplishments, both then lectured to TL and the sister that they were the  ones who had to get degrees to amount to something.

Both of the above are the last ways  to raise a child, as it removes all confidence and makes extremely unhappy children who turn into unhappy adults as those not strong enough become their parents when they do not break free.

In our current abyss, my siblings ran from my parents, sticking me with the hard job of caring for them which is immensely difficult being poor and not having a home of our own. For TL's sister, she has zero social skills, and while being a PHD, she had to join employment in a field in a ghetto part of town, all because TL's parents both were drawing that poor girl back into the sphere, as her husband's family and needs are negated, and they are now in the TL's parental'  sphere of control again.  It is all a disaster in the making from this woman not taking her husband's name to the continued disaster caused by these parents.

Parents are to supply two things, LOVE and the LAW, just as the Bible does to all Christians. That translates to NURTURING and DISCIPLINE, that means not favoritism for jealousy or pitting children against each other, but expecting the child to accomplish  in their abilities all they can be for  the Glory of the Lord. A child  has to self reliant and pay the bills, but when that child can do it happily in their pursuit of growing apples instead of being a doctor, that is what is required. No parent has the right to make a child miserable  because of their failures.
Discipline is not unfair treatment or endless punishment. Discipline is about expecting things from a child, and giving them validation and self worth in those accomplishments, so the physical punishment NEVER dispensed  in  anger and administered swiftly, instead of torturing the child for hours, is a fairness in a  child's short mind, instead of viewing punishment as something unfair.

That is all  there is to raising children, and it begins with your being a Christian example in being wise to the world, and never allowing your child to see you breaking the rules and then expecting them to uphold the rules and  being punished when they do not.

Support your children in their pursuit of life, and  by example, they will support you in your old age. You teach them right from wrong, you pray for them, and you make them  understand they are responsible for the bad things they do and will answer for it, just as they expect praise for achievements, and the understanding that God does not throw a banquet every time you choose to do right and not sin, so too children must learn that you do the right thing all the time, as the benefits are a clear conscience  and not always praise, for sound sleep  is the praise.

Nuff Said.
