Intimidating Iran

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

This is an interesting examination in the United States is in the process of bullying Iran to not intercede to save Philistines in Gaza from genocide by sending a submarine into the Persian Gulf with cruise missiles and Navy Seals on board.

'To Deter Iran’ - Has About 150 Cruise Missiles

I found this article about how the Russians and Chinese were practicing capturing submarines in the ocean, it seemed to be mostly about torpedo jets which it did not explain.
The Lame Cherry wonders, even though the Persian Gulf is big, it is not the ocean. It is a confined space which it would seem stupid to send a naval craft into. Outside of acts of war, I recall that historically there used to be sub pen traps, meaning mine fields or even cables to cause problems for submarines. I remember on the Hunt for Red October that the Soviet's loudly pinged for that sub to drive it.
In knowing those principles, would it not behoove any smaller nation being bullied to play loud acoustical sounds to make a submarine deaf? Would it not be something that fishing trawlers with those huge ocean nets could deploy and with those plastic lines put nylon nets into the propellers and force the sub to the surface?

It would just seem that beyond overt warfare of bombs that there would be passive methods to make bullying a problem, even like running practice bombing drills in the Gulf as Iran has every right to run drills and it is the problem of those who get under a bombing run.

I just know that I would not be pleased to have some nation bullying my nation with submarines. I remember the Chinese built an undersea mountain on the fast run chart lanes American submarines used, and that sub crashed into a mountain and had to be  towed away. It seems there are ways to deal with nations which are sticking their fingers into your pie and expecting you to sit there and take it.

Personally I really do not see what the intimidation of 150 cruise missiles are and 66 Seals, as the missiles are not that powerful and you can repair that kind of damage. Seals have proven rather fragile from Panama when the Panamanians chewed them up and when Obama had the Taliban blow up the Seals who shot that fake bin Laden actor.

I found a map of the Persian Gulf in the depth, and it is like a bath tub. The only place it is deep is in Iranian territorial waters, otherwise it is shallow, meaning a submarine would have to stay in Iranian waters or you could see the thing or catch it in a fishing net.
These Ohio class submarines are all older than Gens really. They must be about wore out. They need 35 feet of water as that is their draft, so a safe zone would be at least 100 feet of water, and in the map below you can see they really can't hide in the Persian Gulf

As you can see these subs are not that hidden which is a ridiculous deployment for the Pentagon to engage in.
I actually looked for a port of call for these submarines and none came up. Meaning they have to be on the surface to get anywhere near any of the ports America could visit.

The Persian Gulf is very shallow in many places and generally seen as less suitable for large submarines. That does not mean that the USS Georgia cannot operate effectively in that environment however, but it may make incidents like this more likely.

I remember America under Bush41 played, Van Halen, I think to drive Panamanian General Noreiga nuts in a Vatican compound. .Sound travels well in water and I would think that Iran would do the same thing, not playing Van Halen, as I like Van Halen, but instead they could use those old pinging we heard in old submarine movies and just drive the crews nuts with an occasional percussion symphony to mix things up as Iran announced it was conducting live fire drills in the vicinity.

This entire Pentagon bullying seems really not sound in military doctrine. It endangers crews as who knows if a real fishing trawler or super tanker might hit the sub and these subs are worth like 3 billion dollars.

I wonder if you can hear .......yeah you remember Red October where that wonderful black actor Courtney Vance said he heard Russians singing in the October.......so Iran could play some rock song like, "Fuck you, I dare you to fire your cruise missiles, you woke fag pedo bastards". It would have to be in English, but it would be the kind of tune that Iran could not be bombed for.

In the end, like most American policy, this bullying of Iran does not seem well thought out, because if this sub has an accident, Iran is going to tow it into port and have a real propaganda show.
