As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
I made a point in prepping this past winter to make sure I had viable seed for specific garden varieties which I liked. I had to find some obscure sites, but I did get seed for Rose tomatoe. This is a beefsteak, very fruity, and my original came from Johnny's in Maine, but they no longer sold it, so I got this batch and as watering with Miracle Grow as seedlings almost killed all my seedlings............once in the garden they took off like I had a whip on their ass.
TL photographed and tells me this tomatoe measured 4 inches. They are bit long season, even when sprouted inside, and are an early September tomatoe, but they produce allot of huge tomatoes, and are what you think the Amish would produce in their breeding programs.
Rose is not bland, it is fruity, it is a nice counter in my taste for the Big Boy green and the Russian Azoychka yellow acidic which I grow. It is not Brandywine musty, and not as full of combinations as a Black Krim, but this is a really fine tomatoe for the garden and it did not mind that HAARP chem acid spraying.
The rich farmers here often dump piles of commercial fertilizer on the road filling up, so I get buckets of the stuff. I think this was the corn mixture, and I put a sprinkling around the plants and they did well, and it did not affect the flavor.
TL watered and I did a few times sparingly. You get good tasting fruit by not over watering. You can see they are a robust plant which does not need a huge amount of care, even in the horrid conditions of the Brier Patch.
They have this off metallic pink colour though which is unique to this variety and they never will turn red. They have always been very good to me. As I used to have problems and still do in sprouting seeds and not enough sun and warmth in the porch so they do not grow or get leggy, I have sprouted these the end of April, put them into hot caps in the garden and gotten very nice crops by September 1st. They would benefit from sprouting and growing for 6 weeks, but that is to show you they are a lovely plant for a meltdown and when Jesus comes back, you can say, "Hey Jesus, step down off your white pony and have a few tomatoes with me".
He will like that.
