I have always studied film since a child as it fascinated me in how women could be presented so alluring by deliberate design and by camera angles.
I remember watching some late night movie in my teen years which I thought this is really a crap movie and went to bed. The start though was featuring this very hot woman in an almost upskirt which was racy back a generation ago. I had no idea who the actors were, except one in Carrie Snodgress, which honestly I looked up not along ago in some movie in trying to find this shot in the movie and was perplexed as this woman was not at all attractively presented.
But thanks to Paul in giving me a list of movies to view, I was going through them and came to The Appaloosa, which is a Marlon Brando film. While it has not published yet, Paul suggested a Kirk Douglas movie what honestly troubled me as a little kid when I saw it, as Douglas picks a fight with a gimp with a stub arm and gets beat up by the stub arm. then the horse Douglas has gets hit as by a car as he tries to escape. That was not the happy ending a kid wanted, but I never forgot that gritty movie and how much it horrified me in that stump arm, which is amusing to me now as it is so bizarre.
Anyway I saw the star of Appaloosa in Anjanette Comer and started reading about her and looking at publicity photos and I came across James Caan in Rabbit Run and who popped up but Carrie Snodgress and that jarred my memory in this was the movie with the hot chick in the upskirt and it was thee American Comer not this Brit Snodgress. This is one of those quirky things that just bug me in having watched a movie as a kid and then not remembering what the hell it was.
I have another one, my brother told me about. I think it was on a trip to Winnipeg that he saw a couple of movies…….one was Hot Rock. Think that had Robert Redford in it with the memorable hypnotic trigger for a heist in Afghanistan Bananastan. Most memorable is a guy swallows the diamond, shits it out in prison and a guy goes in, unscrews the sewer pipe and has wet poop all over his arm.
The other which I have looked for is a movie where some thug has a girlfriend who is pregnant and he punches her in a gut. She goes into delivery, has twins, the one is dead, but as the other baby is birthed, it comes out and sings, “YOU GOT MY BROTHER BUT YOU DIDN’T GET ME!” Always kind of wanted to watch that movie.
But back to the beautiful Ms. Comer. I’m thankful for Paul in suggesting this film featuring her as I’m intrigued how John Saxon will match up with Eli Wallach as a Mexican Bandit. Saxon starred in…….a Clint Eastwood movie which slips my mind, but was a Chavez in there I think and a Mexican Bandit. All I remember in that one is Clint claimed he was going to piss over the court house building when he was drunk. Robert Duvall was the rich bad guy in that one.
Anyway now I can check that mystery woman off my list and as she is still in this world praise her as one of the rare beauties like Natalie Wood.
I’m going to see what G3 has to say about the singing baby.
