Our Heavenly Father, hear us in Jesus Name. We come to You to ask You that those of us who are Yours who shall die before Jesus return, to give them a blessed end, Comforted by Your Spirit, Guided by Your Holy Angels and Received by Jesus our Lord and Savior as we leave our bodies. Give us proper burial in respect of this Temple You created.
We recognize that our lives are a vapor, and the day of our departure rests entirely within Your sovereign hands. When that final hour arrives for us or our loved ones, let all fear, pain, and distress be swallowed up by Your overwhelming peace. Send Your Holy Spirit to whisper assurance to our souls, calming our thoughts and sealing our hearts with the absolute certainty of eternal life. Command Your holy angels to station themselves around our beds, guarding our transition from this world and guiding our spirits safely through the valley of the shadow of death into the realms of celestial light.
Open the gates of glory before us, and let the very first sight our eyes behold be the welcoming face of Jesus, stretching out His hands to receive us into His presence with the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Furthermore, we ask that You look over our earthly remains and grant us a dignified, respectful burial. Let our physical bodies, which served as living temples of the Holy Spirit on this earth, be laid to rest with honor and reverence by those we leave behind. Keep our burial places secure until that glorious resurrection morning when the trumpet sounds, the dead in Christ rise first, and these mortal bodies are clothed in immortality.
