According to the law of the United States, and each state of the United States, a voter must be a RESIDENT of that state for a certain period of time.
CBS recently had an old nun who had not voted since Eisenhower ramped up for a propaganda piece (How did they find this woman hidden away for 50 years?) in stating she is going to vote for Obama.
Sorry people, but how is some citizen of the Vatican, the Vatican is a nation state, who has not been a resident of any state or territory in the United States legally casting a vote?
I have no problem with Soldiers or government officials who are doing their required duty in voting while on station, but there is something very wrong with someone who has not been in the United States living in Austria, Hungary, Vatican City, China etc.... for 40 years in not being a citizen, not owning or renting a residence and not paying one dime in US or state taxes, and yet they are afforded a privilege to vote in national and state elections.
I in no way am saying these non residents should loose their citizenship, but there must be a discussion in just why is it that a state like Nebraska which is not that wealthy has to print up, pay postage and use extra vote counters to count up ballots for people who haven't set foot in the United States for decades.
None of us can just show up in another state and vote. None of us can legally ask for example New York to send us a ballot, because we would prefer to vote in their state instead of like Ohio.
So why do people who are secure financially as every one of those people are doing well overseas, not paying US taxes, cost US citizens money to count a vote in their states when they are not footing the bill for it?
As stated Soldiers and embassy people are unique in not choosing in many instances where to serve and then still serving in US considered soil overseas. The people though who are willingly going over to Saudi Arabia for work to whatever in Europe though should have restrictions placed on them that unless they do not spend at least 30 days in their state every 2 years then they should not be allowed to vote when it is a private choice.
This is not a knock on Catholics in the least, because the same rules should be expected for any Hindu American in India or a Muslim American in Mecca. You choose to serve in a quasi government religion, and live your entire life overseas, and then find a CBS reporter to try and skew Catholics or whoever to rig an election, that is not the liberal separation of Church and State, but an absolute bastardization of the election process.
The same is true if your god is mercenary war to oil revenues. If you can not at least come to the state you are registered in and vacation to put in some money to the US economy ever 2 years for 30 days, then you can be a US citizen all you like, but your voting should be in Vatican elections, Mullah elections, BP elections for board seats or some union which you are serving.
I know the regulations are as follows:
Your "legal state of residence" for voting purposes is the state where you last resided immediately prior to departure from the United States. Voting rights extend to overseas citizens even though they may no longer own property or have other ties to their last state of residence, and even if their intent to return to that state may be uncertain. For those who have never resided in the United States, sixteen states allow certain U.S. citizens to register where a parent or spouse would be eligible to vote.unquote.
But I frankly have had it with the Obama electioneers who are literal foreigners costing state residents money, costing US armed forces their lives protecting them as they profit and not giving one thing back to the United States.
There must be a revamping of election laws to deal with this nonsense as it is bad enough Oprah Winfrey couch potatoes vote like Behar trolls without people who have no idea who the Governor is, the state representative or the County Sheriff is in the state they are voting while living overseas........and yet they are voting in American elections.
If you can't love your nation enough to fly home once every 2 years for a 30 day visit, you do not belong voting in any national or state election.
The only reason this garbage goes on is these electioneers always cast Democratic votes as these peace corp and leftist profiteers always flee the United States as some phobia deep inside of them.
One knows very well that a million John McCain patriots who were living in Asia were casting votes that would swing Michigan, California and New York to his column Pelosi would be raising the messiah and the messiah would be lighting up a new cigarette beyond his chain smoking now in branding the McCain voters "not Americans".
That old nun is proof positive of Oprah stupidity. The Vatican teaches the right of life and Obama teaches infanticide and yet the old nun is thinking Obama is the ticket.
Maybe in this Pope Ben should round up the mother superior and boot the old aborticide nun out of the Vatican before she starts voting to change in revolution the Catholic religion.
What is good for the Pope is good for the Obama.
