You see power plants which burn coal, natural gas or use radioactive material for creating steam to turn turbines that generate electricity, just can't throw a switch and shut things off.
It takes hours to bring a plant online or for that matter to shut them down.
In order to keep the lights on in your home, so electricity is there all the time, those power lines must be filled with electricity 24 hours a day. Power companies have peak loads where they must supply more energy in the grid and then switch over to lower production on off peak hours.
You the consumer notice this on hot or cold days when the lights will dim, flicker or sometimes go out, because the company is switching power from one grid to another to feed demand.
See power lines have to have more power produced in them from the start in this at the plants, because electricity does indeed "bleed" off as it moves through the lines. So one can not just turn a light off in your home and "save" energy, because a power plant can not store electricity. It is there for the split second it is produced and it is gone when it is not used.
So in that, turning lights off saves absolutely nothing, except a few pennies for your bill, but in the long run it screws up the electrical grid, because when everyone turns on their lights again if the company powered down (which I doubt) would create a brown out, and, if the brown out lasts long enough, it will burn out electric motors in your home from furnaces to refrigerators.
So for all the greenhead's of liberal idiotry, you probably cost yourself today and your neighbors a years worth of destruction on your appliances as the armatures burned a little as everyone turned on their lights again.
This is typical liberal idiocy practiced by this ruling elite of the idiotry. The same amounts of energy were burned whether the lights were on or off just like Obama's green battery cars are going to burn more energy in more electricity will be required to charge the cars.
Got a little hint for you pilgrims of the green way in a question, "If cars stop using gasoline, will gasoline prices go up or down?"
I will answer this as it will be difficult for Obama voters to solve a story problem. Gas prices will go down is the answer.
Now if gas prices go down, and gas is cheaper than coal, natural gas or billion dollar nuclear plants, do you think the power companies listening to you bitch about how much electricity costs, (more than what it costs to fill up your gas tank previously) will they be burning gasoline in their plants or be burning coal or using nuclear power?
Yes children of Obama's way, the day will come when all that surplus refined crude oil in jet fuels which are needed, diesels, lubricants and your plastics, will have a huge surplus of gasoline as gasoline is one of the many distilled products from a barrel of crude.
You can't turn an entire barrel of crude oil into gas as there is only so much gas in crude oil. So you either burn it or it piles as a real pollution hazard.
So in the end you greenheads, your local power plant will be burning cheap gasoline as you buy expensive electricity to power your electric car.

I applaud him in lighting up and filling the atmosphere with more pollution which like on a cloudy day all that smog actually makes things cooler, driving home the point that the earth is cooling from all these Obama gases.
