I believe the artifact known as the Shroud of Turin is the authentic burial wrapping of Jesus the Christ, so this discussion is not about flawed carbon dating by PHD's who were not bright enough to take a sample from a restoration and not the original in testing, but about looking at the face of the Son of God.Forensics of which I am a part will tell you the most interesting thing about the shroud is the face is that of a human either with relaxed facial muscles from dementia or the individual is dead. Humans even in sleep will still have muscle control. It is only when the brain stops the emotional connection to muscle tissue imprinting tension that one has a face like Jesus is in the shroud of Turin.
I enjoy putting such photos on cloth through filters to see what the eye will catch as it glides over various shadows and filtered color. Josephus the Jewish traitor and Roman historian recorded that Jesus was called a handsome man.
Jewish rabbi's will tell you that it is interesting in how certain regions of the world will turn out round headed people and others will turn out angular heads. Jesus had a quite angular head and profile.
I would also point out that He and the disciples were pinpointed as Galilean. One knows what the Jews looked like in Jerusalem as many of the Levite priests still have bloodlines traceable and the Sephardic swarthy types still abound, but not in great numbers.
These Jews though were different from the Galilean Jews, not by dress, but by appearance. One could tell them apart as much as one can tell a Mexican from an average American.
Jesus had a lovely brown hair color and not black. People need to understand that Ashkenaz Jews are of the Japheth white lines from central Asia like Russians. This is not the Jewish race which Jesus was born from, in fact the Levites are distinct also.
In reading the names of the Levites, most were Nubian or Ethiopian in character. As the woman in the Song of Solomon was dark, it appears that certain Levites might have been as Laban was white in the uncle of Jacob who formed the 13 tribes of Israel.
Jesus line was from David. David was called ruddy, or pink skinned. As the disciples were apparently lumped in with Jesus as Galileans and could be seen from a distance as being distinct, it is evident that Jesus must have been most handsome in looking at his face in having a sunlit brown hair with perhaps reddish tint as some have concluded King David had reddish hair (remember Esau Jacob's brother was covered with red hair.) and a glowing peach toned complexion.
That throws a great deal of fireworks into the stereotypes, but as I am not in this for races, but Christ, all that matters to me is He fulfilled His mission.
In beholding the shroud, I do understand how this image was created as it is in essence a photograph. If one has enough lumes as in a nuclear detonation, images can be painted upon walls too in shadows and lightness.
While this technology was not available in Jesus time, if someone were to skin a cadaver, place non burning light under encompassing the skeletel structure, including inside the bones with a luminescence to pentrate bone, then one could by placing the skin back on the corpse, produce a like image with several million lumes of light.
God does it in the easy or hard way on the molecular level in translating the mirror light in matter into God's perfect Light of Life. Each cell in Christ on the atomic level was translated to God frequency instead of human.
Lazarus and others who were raised from the dead simply were infused with life force, what Jesus translated into was akin to Moses radiant face after meeting God or what Jesus had occur on the Mount of Transfiguration.
Interestingly, Jesus did not glow as Moses did, because Moses had to be a living proof for weeks to an entire nation.
So the process can be one of high radiance and low radiance after the transfiguration has occurred.
It is interesting that Moses body was contended over with satan, as I conclude satan wanted to turn the body into some kind of icon as Gideon's shield caused Israel to miss the message of God.
Interesting, that none of the icons of Christ, which have been kept in secret and some on display have never once been worshipped, but only held in reverence of Him.
The children of the Christ are directed by the Spiritual nature and none of the physical relics hold any allure for them.
As close as I have been to God and in knowing things no one else knows from God, I still everytime I look at that shroud get very uncomfortable as in awe, in the pure form of fear. This is the Creator, the One Who knew me before I was formed, the One Who is my Source Who I return to with irresistable force and He terrifies me for I understand enough to know all mighty and the endlessness of Their expansion that any human without the anchor of the Holy Spirit would go insane if entering into that immenseness, as it has no reference point, it simply is and it all is.
This is the face of God in those who know Him and all pretense of intellect, understanding, being and accomplishment evaporates in a person when beholding that face.
I can not look upon it without turning from it in moments as it's message is that immense. That this is only an image of the Source, makes me more uneasy than even the terror of being in the expanse without reference.
I realize the Love of God overcomes this fear in one's passage, so that face is beheld in that dimensional understanding, but in knowing enough of Who this Being is and the more I recoil, the more I'm drawn to it in peace unable to look away.
The dichotomy of Christ, the irresistable force and the unmoveable object, the centrifugal force and gravity.
It is interesting to behold the face of Jesus as kindred, as most Americans are related to Him as Joseph was a brother of Judah, from whence Jesus came. Of course America too has it's Levites scattered not so scattered among them as priestly groups who do not know even who they are, as they are in their groups exactly as they were in their cities in the Bible.
Relative or not, the Spiritual adoption is complete and America has a greater responsibility for who they are.
All that from a most interesting image of the Living Christ, in the last moment of His death, becoming alive in a fraction of time so quick that it was not captured on the cloth.
What a wonderful honor it must have been for Jesus step mother, Mary Magdalene (Mary was the wife of the "other Joseph", Joseph of Aramathea who became Jesus legal guardian when Joseph, the Virgin Mary's husband died. Joseph of Aramathea was the Virgin Mary's brother, this is why Joseph of Aramathea was entombing Christ's body as he was more than a follower, he was family.)
I hope His coming is soon and pray for His kingdom to come. Sometimes I conclude that 30 years is long enough for life here as it wears thin after that mark and living several hundred years is just too much burying of family and pets.
Now it is off to understand in Spirit the meaning of "For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin."
The shroud has many forms.
