While most of the readers of this blog have been one dimensional in their lives of money, pay bills, live in your home and have an opinion, I have been blessed to be undertaking many projects to keep numbers of Americans alive.
I remember a number of years ago the not so nice Steve Quayle of giant theory fame was advocating like many having horses around for transportation to evacuate on. I pointed out that horses are large, big, noisy, leave tracks and are more than most people can handle in they act up when you do not want them to and expose your position if you are trying to hide.
That pretty much ended the survivalists looking at horses as the cure all.
What I am moved to address is a way to keep numbers of people alive when Obama and his globalists grab the life force out of America. In studying history, the Irish who starved to death due to record population growth and a potatoe famine which followed was largely created by the potatoe and having a dairy cow.
All those proud Irish lived on rock covered ground and ate nothing but boiled potatoes and milk, morning, noon and night.
For information in those who might try such things, the Lumper potatoe which was part of the cause of the famine, I have done testing on and it is a not so great tasting tuber which does not produce well west of the Mississippi. Just a note for people to not put all their life on the basket of a Lumper.
American cattle were transformed in the 1950's as much as American cattle were transformed from Texas Longhorns to the European beef breeds which most of us remember in Herefords leading the way in the 1890's.
In the 50's, a breeding program started in building the size of beef from a smallish animal to the ton size breeds available today. The Hereford arrived there on it's own with the Rex line in the polled Hereford and the legendary Ox line in the horned cattle.
I still smile every time I see Aberdeen Angus advertised on television as fine beef. It is very good beef and President Eisenhower raised them on his farm at Gettysburg. The amusing part for people who know is Angus in America transformed to their current large size with a jump start from a noble cow named Black Bird.
Black Bird was a black Holstein milk cow and not beef at all. She did her purpose though in transforming the Angus into a large breed which is quite a producer of large quantities of milk that will actually kill a calf as they will eat too much.
Again for those interested, a calf will over eat, lay down in the sun to sleep and the milk will expand with gas and pinch the gut in the little calf and the calf will die as quickly if a coyote put the neck bite on it.
To the point though in keeping people with God given sense alive, there are still the small breeds available which will produce around 2 gallons of milk a day and are not much bigger than a St. Bernard dog.
Granted an animal that size will still run over an NFL linebacker, but in most cases these breeds are much more docile as in the bigger genes produce more aggressive animals and smaller genes in breeds produce more sedate animals.
Where a typical beef animal will require 4 to 20 acres depending on grazing quality of land, these miniatures will feed on 1 acre and do well.
The breeds are my beloved Scottish Highlanders, Herefords and Dexters which are sort of dual purpose meat and milk, and the sweetest of dairy in the miniature Jersey. These animals will require only small spaces of not over 5 acres of land, which includes winter hay and summer pasture in a bull, cow and calf. Milking is a chore, but if one is starving that chore is quite pleasant.
Beef from them would keep 2 people fed for a year, providing of course you planned 18 months before and had a calf grown to be the prized fatted calf to feast upon.
What is nice about the small breeds which can include Dorper sheep to the meat goats is if you have ever butchered anything in the elk size to beef size, you soon find out how much pain, misery and sweat is involved for even two people. These small deer sized beef are something people can handle on their own in processing before the meat spoils.
Biltong or Jerky is simply meat cut in strips on very hot dry days, and allowed to sun cure. The meat soon takes on a glaze that even blow flies will not lay eggs on for maggots to develop.
A little smoke from a fire keeps them away and makes it more tasty. Keep it dry and sealed and that meat will keep for a year without refrigeration nor preservatives.
That is the way people survived in your ancestry before the modern age.
There are the lard hogs which are lovely for the lard which makes soap to cooking grease, but pigs have a nasty habit of being intelligent and hard to handle, along with getting out and in hard times that means you will be feeding someone your work.
In the worst of situations, one could keep their cattle in their garage or basement at night to protect your life food supply.
The high butterfat of Jersey and Dexters in cattle along with Nubinans in goats is much appreciated in the things which make brown bread living tolerable and tradeable in cream, butter and cheese.
Want a commodity people will pay dearly for and those are it after eating Obama meals for a few months.
I recently experimented with cheese making in chevre which is just French for a non bacterial made fresh cheese and was impressed. I just used 2 gallons of milk, heated it to 185 degrees as my online instructions directed, poured in 1 cup of vinegar, and left it sit covered for a few hours and I soon had little cottage cheese curds.
I used a dish towel linen to drain the whey (The whey tasted excellent and can be boiled down as the Norwegians use it for a cheese type spread or used in cooking.) and pressed it between two stainless steel bowls with 5 pounds of sugar on top in the cooler.
I neglected to salt it, but it was fine tasting as it was buttery and sure to lift any one's spirits.
They say you can mix in about anything including hot peppers which I fully intend to try in one of the next adventures.
The point in this is simple stocks, vinegar and salt, take a perishable product and turn it into a longer term food source, free of chemical poisons and United Nations troops handing out rat poop infested rice bags for you and the neighbors to fight over.
Cattle though are not people and can be hazardous if you are not paying attention. Taking the horns off by a veterinarian is always suggested as being gored is not fun when Obama can not provide you medical care.
Costs for a small herd would be about 100 dollars a year for care, some nice farmer to put up your hay for 150 bucks, and in weighing that against milk and meat prices, you should be coming out ahead several hundred dollars.
I have pointed out that there is not enough natural game to feed people in America. People need to garden and can that produce to survive. A small cellar to store root crops and a canner to put up carrots, pole beans, beets etc... is your hands on source of food that you know is good.
I no longer trust the food supply in America, as I know they are doing something to it as feedback I receive has too many people and pets getting sick from eating things which not 5 years ago was not harming them. It might be pesticides or fungicides, but the new processes making food safe are making people sick.
The old adage if it is killing a bacteria people, that is what is in your intestines working to feed you too.
As the new age does set in, these miniature cattle along with the various other food producing creatures of the Bible in goats and sheep, to the American brood chicken, is where food production is coming to as hundreds of thousands of "small farms" are developing every year as people are going off the poison food grid.
This is what Gen. Nelson Appleton Miles in the 1890's in his epic work on America foresaw in the Thomas Jefferson blueprint for America, in America becoming a garden of not cities so much but small acreages of people living on the land and gaining nourishment from it.
The time in most cases is just as important as firearms and ammunition are to protecting oneself in stockpiling, those diaper pails for keeping your garden seeds you are saving in plastic bottles are just as vital, as are cast iron cooking pans, supplies of matches, an outdoor grill, stockade panels to keep your precious livestock safe and those not ever noticed "other things" which survivalists never think of as they are not glamorous until you need a fork to eat with.
So that is the lesson in saving you if you have the room to venture upon that route in these interesting times.
I might also as the legendary Townsend Whelen noted, have a Whelen Leanto Tent and his most trusted Trapper knife which is in fact the model I have wearing a hole in my pocket most days.
You need something to skin your beef as McDonalds in a bad time is just going to be a big yellow M with broken glass as the vagrants have broken in not to steal money, but to lick the grease off from under the grill.
Not appetizing probably, but as a cousin of mine observed in war, children scrambling to eat human feces...........maybe having your own food supply and not whining about how much things tie you down might be something to ponder.
Watching television or internet porn for a few hours a day or instead caring for animals whose presence will tranquilize you as they absorb the hum of the Obama age, your decision while there is still daylight to work in.
Kind of expensive some might say, but have you priced a hospital stay lately........or starvation.
I'm down the road.

PS: And for those who did not notice, there are several million dollar existential experience lines in the above which will save you time, heartache and your own millions.
If Townsend Whelen was stating something, maybe that is the thing to do.
PSS: Those handsome Americans are not me. They are there to show you size and to save me a thousand words.
Oh yeah, PSSS: For the superior vegans, they are going to learn quickly that they are not cows nor goats with 4 stomachs to process the huge quantities of vegetable matter to stay alive when having to actually work in real labor like growing acre gardens to feed their families.
See the human body needs proteins and high fats in order to labor. That is where bacon and eggs breakfasts and lard dripping greens and high meat diets came into being as when Americans used to labor, one either ate or they starved to death like a Jew in an internment camp.
That goes for people who eat rabbit meat too. I recall an Alaskan building his home in the wilderness who lost tens of pounds of weight in all he could eat in rabbits and vegan supplies. It was only when he shot a moose and began consuming it that his strength returned.
Humans need fat and protein when having to work.
Those are just the facts of life or the reality of death if one tries to survive on fruits, veggies and that horrid tofu.
