For much of American history, the American male carried a purse called the Possibles Bag, which I have always found the most stupid of names, even if it meant that this purse contained in it a solution to anything possibly needed.
The genesis of this bag was the frontiersman of black powder era weapons. They carried black powder, shot or bullet, tools to repair the firearm and oil to lubricate and clean it.
Daniel Boone and Davey Crockett all had possibles bags and lived by them.
Later the military would utilize them in our wars, graduating eventually to the ALICE pack as the military always concludes what is small is good so what ways 90 pounds is super good.
Regrettably the world is full of people now who are not like Henry Ford in making modest profits to make billions by mass producing things. Now American robber barons from Bill Gates to Warren Buffett sees how much they can rape from an American in charging many thousand percent the actual cost of producing a good.
For example, possibles bags are anywhere from 30 to 50 dollars, which is ridiculous, as there is less than 1 dollar of material in them in China manufacture, it costs a dollar for some soon to be crippled up Chinese girl in slave labor to make them, so even with shipping across the ocean and distribution in America, that bag is still a profit at 12 dollars, but there are the American robber barons screwing Americans over again in profiteering.
In answer to this, I cast about and found the best solution even for people who do not delve into black powder antics, in the world is full now of used digital video camera bags. If one shoots black powder or the citric acid equivalent, one must have a vinyl or non static case as sparks are a major explosion waiting to happen in this and is why the early folks always used leather possible bags.
I found a very nice vinyl one in a thrift shop for 80 cents.
I picked up a wine cooler too for 80 cents which houses an immense amount of lube, powder and other things to play with, and, I picked up a nylon bag for 60 cents this past week. So, I have a great deal of storage space which looks really fashionable, and instead of being out 150 bucks from the robber barons, I have spent only 2 dollars for a 148 dollar net.
As stated, this is not just for black powder hunting. The last nylon bag I picked up is just the sweetest thing for a compact semi auto pistol. The battery compartments and recharger are just made for loaded clips and a box of ammunition.
In concealed carry states, this is the nicest sort of fashion as the public thinks you just have another video camera and instead you are Second Amendment protected all in plain sight and all in easy access.
As a rather large Arizonan who wrote for Guns and Ammo noted, he ran into some nasty boys in the city, and all he had to do was simply place his had on the grip of his pistol, not withdraw it, and the situation was diffused immediately.
It is always best to stay out of Obama voter danger, but as stated, these compact camera bags are wonderful items for many things.
The other things I have plans for is a medical bag for emergencies, an emergency survival bag for travel and a tool bag with folding pliers, sewing kit and whatever else I decide to pack into them.
There is nothing more appreciated than to have one of these under your seat or cubby, as they take up no room, are there always and are God sends when you need them.
One realizes that these manufacturers never intended these bags for anything but cameras, but they are built perfectly for the American on the go in so many situations and fill so many different venues.
So if you see one of these camera bags on a rummage sale or a thrift store, pick them up, as they are very handy carrying cases that no one seems to want.
Guess that is my good deed for the moment in saving people money and providing for them something they never considered could be a great convenience for them without the world having a clue what they were carrying about.
