The things of God
How much time would you like God to invest in you?
Seriously answer that in would you like it 24 hours a day, or would you settle for a few hours? But what few hours? The hours that you are in traffic traded off for the hours you are at a bar?
Just how much time would you like God to invest in you?
I will pick on NASCAR in this, but it can be any sports from chess to fishing to football, or for those who think business is a sport, playing stocks is a sport or even sitting in Church is a sport, but just ask yourself in the cathedral of your choosing, just what is it you are attending?
Some might be squirming a bit now, so let us look on this Christ Mass at something in your saying that the things you like, are certainly not replacing God.
Let us say you give an hour a week to God in some form of worship, say you pray in the morning, at night for five minutes, sometimes give thanks for food, and read a verse in the Bible for a minute.
1 hour, 10 minutes a day in prayer, is 70 minutes, 10 minutes in grace prayers for food, and 7 minutes for the Bible.....
That is in a week 2 hours and 27 minutes, and if you take out the daydreaming part in Church, and just going through the motions in prayers, you probably get the conviction that God's whole approach to you is a bit more involved than what you are up to.
So two and half hours a week on a stretch, as the Sabbath is a sleep and recreation day, so most people do about 30 minutes on God a week in passing.
Then let's add up the reality of the idols. Take football which is on 6 hours on Sunday, well 9 for the night game.
Most people in one game invest more in football than they do with God all week.
NASCAR with it's big engines and fast speeds, appeals to groups who gain empowerment from that, and some like the speed as a suicide thrill, literally.
Idols come in many forms, and in reality people can assess exactly what it is in life that is their god, because it is what they are making time for in God not being involved.
OK, let's get it clear here too in singing the National Anthem or doing the Hail Mary on your chest at race cars is not involving God for a 3 hour race. You know exactly the lies you are telling to yourself and they will not float here.
Breaking things down in people sleep for 8 hours, work for 8 hours, that is 16 hours out of 24, leaving of course 8 hours a day or 56 hours for "your" time which is God's Time in reality for the rest of the week.
What is the percentage of those 56 hours that you would deem an excess, beyond body functions and eating?
4 hours a television a night? 4 hours of computer a night? That would be 28 hours, leaving you with 28 hours.
Yes shopping and errands are in there too in around 4 hours a week, so you are down to 24 hours.
24 hours that are what a human has to work with in being a Christian or someone Christ says He never knew.
A day does not seem like a great deal does it every week to decide your destiny?
Once again, 24 hours and how many hours are you investing in things not God related, or when you come into your chosen situations so you have to hide God as He would be an embarrassment to you if someone overheard you talking about God.
New question in the idols you choose in, would you trust the people there with the keys to your home?
How about would you trust them with your passwords?
How about would you trust them around your spouse or children?
How about if you were drunk or you were vulnerable, would you trust them not to take iphone pictures of you half undressed or not to rape you and blame you for it?
Come now consider the degrees of separation in these people you are spending so much more time with than God, just who is the person in what you are doing who raped someone, stole something from someone's home at a party or hasn't been masturbating to photos of you?
Certainly you consider all of this as God must always be watched so close that He would take advantage of you now wouldn't He?
Yet you trade off your life here on people who by a 20 to 90 percent group will do worse than the above if given a chance.
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. Matthew 16:24, 25
People invest a great deal of time in denying God, and always expect God to invest all His time in them.
For whosoever shall be ashamed of Me and of My words, of Him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when He shall come in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels. Luke 9:26
Maybe this shot across the bow is the reality most people require, before they sit in a satanic whisper in making excuses and going back to the cathedral of their gods.
Perhaps though now is a good time to think about in the answer you will give, when Jesus produces the Book, and there might be a time clock in it, which shows just how you waste your week that God gave you life for.
There is a reality in this, in either people are moving toward God or moving toward hell. If you can't walk away from something that is taking up your life like Face Book, for example of 6 hours a week......because for most people if you asked them if 6 hours a week doing something is maybe something a bit too important when God is not involved, then you are in a Spiritual problem
What it comes down to is, "If you were God and looking around, would God be there investing His time there?"
Now don't pull that Jesus and sinners line, as you are dealing with the Holy Ghost here and He doesn't get lied to, as Jesus WAS AT WORK and not play, you are not Jesus, and Jesus was not camped out at chariot races and attending the drinking afterwords.
You pick up the signatures of the evil and unsaved by being around them. You become what you invest the most time in.
God made things to enjoy, but God is the first Commandments and not NASCAR or anything else which is taking over people's lives.
People never like reality, as it gets in the way of the illusions they condition themselves to believe in.
Mr. Obama seems to have a great deal of time to party, for sports and to feed off of attention on a stage as his majority investment.
Odd isn't you can see the problems with Obama, but you just can't see the dangers and problems sending you to hell.
Ask yourself if you are an Obama? If that disgusts you, then maybe you need a reality check and if that appeals to you, then you definitely need a reality check.
The things of God.......just what is your investment in?
