The Boy General

Consider General George Armstrong Custer compared to your personal bravery if you can come close to matching his.

Eleven horses are shot under him, in battle.

In six months his division captures in pieces of field artillery, 65 battle-flags, and
10,000 prisoners including seven generals. It does not lose a
flag or a gun or meet defeat.

On April 9, 1865, he receives flag of truce conveying the first word that
General Lee is considering surrender. Thus "the boy general"
has fought through from Bull Run to Appomattox.

At the close of the war is ordered with a division of cavalry to Texas.

Offered the command of the cavalry of the army of General Juarez,
Mexico, in the conflict with Emperor Maximilian; but by Congress is not permitted to accept.

In 1866 brevetted major-general in the regular army, for war services.

October, 1866, appointed lieutenant-colonel to command the Sev
enth United States Cavalry, and ordered to Fort Riley, Kansas.

Five years of service, 1866- 7, on the plains of Kansas, Nebraska,
Colorado and Indian Territory, resulting in the subjugation of
the Kiowas, Arapahos, Cheyennes, Comanches and Apaches in
that district.
Risking his life to save kidnapped Americans and the lives of
renegade Indians

From 1871 to 1873 stationed with his regiment in Kentucky
to protect the peace..

Spring of 1873 ordered with his regiment to Fort Rice, Dakota,
for operations among the Sioux. Occupies the new post of Fort
Lincoln and placed in direct command of the region.

Engages in campaigns along the Yellowstone River, and  commands
the military expedtion to the Blacks Hills for the American Government.

June 25, 1876, aged 37, assassinated with five companies of his cavalry
at the battle of the Little Big Horn, Montana, with 3000 Sioux.

IR/ Edwin Sabin: On the Plains with Custer

How many horses have you had shot out from under you in combat? How many battles have you been in? How many times have you been put into dangerous command situations?

Surely you have been entrusted Texas, the central plains, Dakota Territory, the Black Hills and thousands of savages to protect them........so of course you can kick a dead George Custer around.

Surely you have been offered command of a foreign military to command their entire armed forces.

Surely all of you who attack the dead General murdered by Indian proxies and assassinated by his own American Government have accomplished more, so please list all your service to America.........yes and then we will listen to your litany of complaints about George Armstrong Custer as you of course are qualified to attack him being a General as a child yourself and having graduated West Point.

There is not an Indian who ever lived who was a greater warrior than General George Armstrong Custer nor saved as many Indian lives than he did.
