One can read on gun threads the great neo revisionism of history, by paid MOGS and ignorant trolls, that Ronald Reagan was for an assault weapon's ban, because he backed banning AK 47's as unnecessary for self defense or sporting, in this Russian combat weapon.
Ronald Reagan had a psychosis develop after the assassination attempt upon him, in which his friend Jim Brady was shot, along with others. After this Mr. Reagan felt guilty, and Brady's wife Sarah, became a gun grabber advocate in pushing for the Brady Bill, and Nancy Reagan influenced her husband as this was the "right thing".
Mr. Reagan was shot by a 22 caliber revolver, and not a Russian weapon, but that is beside the point in this issue, as it was the point, did Ronald Reagan want a ban on all "assault weapons", which in reality does not include an assault weapon, as an AK 47 is not a commando style weapon.
