As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
Yesterday in the time capsule it was August 21st and at around 6 o'clock pm we had a most interesting weather event. We are in a severe drought and this was a bubble of energy which appeared about 50 miles west of here, and I told TL that we should get home, get things put away, as it might rain.
It was a small rain in my praying God to give every drop he could spare out of the clouds, but as things generated, we got in between two severe storms. We were in the buffer by God's Grace and it was amazing as TL said the thunder sounded like jet aircraft dropping bomb payloads.
It was unique in I never noticed this before in thunder, as the sound actually howled like a jet engine in the lightning and of course breaking the barrier, the explosion sounded like bombs going off.
This went on north of us about a mile away.........for those who do not know, you can count lightning distance in 7 seconds is a mile, once you see the flash.
Then it started to the south and I was watching that light show and praying no strike hit us on this place. It was .....amusing now in I saw a bolt of lightning appear from the clouds on top of us, arc across the sky and hit by a substation about five miles from here. Another flash and the lights went out. It was a short period of time, but I was watching lightning generate from clouds on top of us, and arcing miles away.
There was this really new one I had never witnessed, in it actually looked like it ........like macaroni laid out in the sky in a line, as there were spaces where there was not any light. That was a one time thing, but I never seen anything like that before, and I have seen lightning up close in being a few feet from me, when I was 3 years old standing in the yard. It was an odd memory as I remembered my sister and the mother in the yard, fixing a John Deere mower. I was out from them, and remember this bright bolt of light and being puzzled why it disappeared into the ground.
Asking the mother years later, she confirmed that the bolt did strike where it did.
Anyway I have always loved lightning and thunder. My dream is to be in a leanto tent with screen mesh and enjoying the energy of a storm like this some day. Perhaps in the divide in the mountains as I have heard that lightning does things there which people will not believe.
Anway that was my thrill for a few moments in thunder sounding like jets doing a bombing run. Been a long time since I had that delight as a child.
