In reading the memoirs of General James Doolittle USAF, he makes a comment in the 1980's as he writes, about a United States Air Force and combined forces policy which perhaps only Captain Kirk and myself were aware of.
In going back to the peaceniks of the 1960's and the anti Reagan protesters, as Lyndon Johnson had spiked them with his little girl picking petals off a white daisy, people were conditioned to focus on the big nukes, the ICBM's, the final solution remedies, instead of the Air Force which had been producing tactical nuclear weapons for theater combat.
That probably went by you, so I will repeat it, General Doolittle stated the United States, from the onset of the hydrogen bomb, has focused on creating small nuclear devices to be used in actual combat.
The big flurry of Vice President Dick Cheney under George W. Bush upgrading American tactical nukes was nothing new. This has been established US policy for 60 years, that even as we were fighting winless wars in Korea, Vietnam and the Mideast, the Pentagon war planners were engaged in combat scenarios of using theater nuclear arms to win battles.
This is nothing new, as the Soviets had mass concentrations of tanks and the Chicoms had mass concentrations of troops, and large blast would be used to consume those resources. It just was put so plain by General Doolittle in passing, that reading it startled me, as this has been US policy all along.
The Lame Cherry's reason for making you aware of this, is each of you has entered an era when these weapons will be used. It is one thing to study it, be an expert on the use of these weapons, but even for myself, projecting myself forward to these battlefields and hearing the cracking roar of detonation, with the push of the blast, followed by the debris winds and scorching heat, beyond ground zero, it is experiencing doomsday in the world has changed.
Providing thee American Air and Space weapon's platforms do not burn out from overuse and even more importantly, Americans have a President who will use the systems to protect life in the United States by obliterating millions of enemy troops and civilians, it will be a glorious deployment of force, which has really not been witnessed since that police action in Korea.
