The Russians have been rattling the nuclear saber for sometime now and the Lame Cherry bases it's analysis on two factors of inspiration, "What would I do if I was the other guy?" and "What will the other guy do?"
As this blog has postulated, I would never trust the survival of my nation to weapon systems which have never been tried. The Soviets certainly did not, and the Kremlin is the child of this era. I would not rely on missiles that might be shot down or missiles that might not even launch. The logic would be to pre position like Trojan Horses enough nuclear devices to first strike with certainty.
As America has been an open borders and open facility country since Bill Clinton it is logical that America's enemies would with sleeper cells install nuclear devices in crtical locations. There is an old saying in 'close" only counts in horseshoes, handgrenades and nuclear bombs. With the advent of suitcase nukes by the United States, it would only make sense to place numbers of these devices globally, next to installation or into installations.

I would not be surprised if there are nukes built into the most secure facilities and the only maintenance they require is the circuits outside the system.
It comes to nuclear war which New York City is practicing for, that no one is going to be apologizing for prepostioning nuclear weapons. It will be who wins that will be celebrated by their genius and that which wins, is the one who implements certain destruction, instead of trusting in systems which have never been tried in actual launch sequence.
No one knows that will happen when nuclear warheads are detonated. It might fry the nukes, might send them off course, it might neutralize them. The United States might have the 25 year advanced technology to stop a nuclear attack as it launches off Russia. That may be why it is goading Russia into this to leave Russia disarmed and it will have to surrender as it has nuclear nakedness.
Defense has to work every time as one nuke cause major problems. Offence though can be allowed to work only part of the time and still be effective. With prepositioned nukes, Russia would have an almost 100% success rate, which could not be stopped and that makes one realize why Russian flights were banned early and are still being restricted even for diplomats.
The US is still an open oasis though. It would be a bit more difficult to haul in nukes from Mexico via Russia, but there is always a way, as a hundred million Mexicans did not get into America the hard way.
As the United States is a law unto itself. other nations are going to be laws unto themselves in order to survive, ,and that law would preposition devices as if Vladimir Putin is defeated, how many times can you execute him for doing things that will be judged crimes against humanity? When a nation has nothing left to lose, they will indeed do everything to win.
