As a child I really did not have any lifeline in the present, and all I had was a past which basically I clung to in all my misery in television programs from another era. We could not get Star Trek reruns as we were in the Brier, but one program I relished as I was doing dinosaurs before they became vogue was a Sci Fi adventure created by Sid and Marty Kroft, who created allot of weird HR Puffentuff crap that I really did not get as I was not a Sesame Street fool.
The program was called Land of the Lost and as I have mentioned this before, I could not get how whoever these assholes are who made a movie on this series starring Will Ferrell as a comedy, just wounded me and I'm speaking out for others as this movie failed as it should have in Justice as Will Ferrell is an asshole liberal whose main Sat Night Acting is going red faced and screaming stupid porn
For those not familiar with Land of the Lost, I will sketch out there the brilliance of this program as I just got the Ferrell DVD for a buck to hate on.
In the original, Will Marshall was a normal American educator with a wife and kids. This time on a safe expedition on a river float trip, he took along his son and daughter in Will and Holly. A massive earthquake struck and the river opened to a gorge which they fell into. What they recovered to was the terror of a land of dinosaurs.
This was a survival show in it educated kids on how to survive. There were though brilliant Sci Fi which has never appeared anywhere else in a situation which was always bittersweet as all they wanted to do was to get home to their wife and mother. The bittersweet first appeared as they tried to float their way out and as the end of the episode, they found the river ran in a circle. They had fallen into a closed universe.
There were massive locked pylons in the land, built by someone else, which controlled the laws of that universe. Crystals were inside and assembled in order, and if you mixed crystals in the wrong combination, they would make a bright light or even blow up. This was the beginning of the genius of the Krofts, as they developed Skylons which controlled the weather in the same and would flash sequences to touch to "fix" atmospheric storms.
There were humanoid primitives there who were not very bright and caused a myriad of problems in their ignorance.
Then there was the Lost City, home to reptilians who were quite dangerous and tried to sacrifice the Marshall's to the god in their pit. On one side was T Rex they called Grumpy. On the Lost City side was Alice a Alisaurus, and this is what they played dodge with as Rick Marshall was convinced the way out of the universe was through the Lost City.
This is where Enik appeared, a genius reptilian, and bittersweet again as in one episode Enik discovers that while he believed the Slestack reptilians were his past he evolved from, they were instead his future. A race of geniuses were devolving to reptiles.
In one of the last episodes, Holly, the daughter actually in one of the portals sees herself as a grown woman. She finds out then that somehow at least she gets out of the Land of the Lost.
As you can see there is not any comedy in this. This was brilliant science fiction which made children think as the original Star Trek did. Holly was a little girl, not a sexed up Daisy Duke tramp. Will was a teenager and not a fricking redneck moron for Hollywood to make fun of.
In knowing what this show was about, I can not fathom how anyone made something brilliant into this Will Ferrell shit. It would be like taking the original Star Trek and making it a bumbling comedy. Why Ferrell has not made a comedy about murdering Jesus so he can get laughs on the cross I can not fathom as this asshole once signed up for a comedy about Ronald Reagan being senile. That is the low bar that this group operates from in mocking NASCAR, Southerners, Christmas and whatever this funeral crash cum dumps in.
I would that someone would give me the funding so I could make a real cinema feature of Land of the Lost to honor Sid and Marty Kroft and give cameos of the original actors to give a hat tip to their work. This series was equal to Star Trek, the original, surpassed Dr. Who in the science and had enough of the parts of Red Dwarf beyond that comedy to make you consider the impossible in science.
Being miserable is not funny as a child and the shit that Will Ferrell hangs around with mocking things that mean things to Americans is the final episode of hate in a nation founded on respect. It is more than Land of the Lost, America is lost and under the direction of the clueless.
