Sally in a Blanket

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

When I was a youngster, I was left at the mercy of the mother's sister and brother in law. His parents were old Russian Germans who could make a meal out of woodshavings and horse manure. While there I had a most fascinating meal in it was boiled potatoes with holes cut in them and pork sausages stuffed in the holes and boiled in a pot.

I had never had pork sausage and loved them. First time I ever liked boiled potatoes. I was simply mesmerized watching Aunt Sally make the things as I had thought she had gone off the deep end.

I never forgot that meal, and never have had it anywhere else. Actually made it for TL as it is real peasant food in not letting hog lard go to waste.

In honor of Sal, I created a recipe not long after I called Sally in a Blanket. It is a simple recipe in pork links, fried up, and wrapped in a slice of American cheese, and that is wrapped in a lasagna noodle. Stack them up in a casserole dish, cover with either cream of chicken, celery or mushroom for  a White Priv reminder or you can go red with a spaghetti sauce.
Cover the whole shebang with Parmesan cheese and you got something interesting.

Of course you can go whole hog in putting in mixed vegetables in the White Priv or going egg plant on the red stuff. Can take it to a higher level and spoil it with tater tots on top, then topped with the cheese.

The reason this recipe is appearing is I decided to make lasagna and have sauce and enough pasta left over to make Sally in a Blanket as TL has never had that concoction.

I learned one thing in this post. I never realized how many ugly women are in blankets. Blankets must be the repository of ugly women photos. All would have done well to cover their faces and expose the more leggy parts. The above is the best I could find as I was fed up with looking at ugly women.

So we are having lasagna tonight as we are in the process of baking it. It will be a nice change and something happy. Already did our Chicken Noodle Soup twice as winter came early, and am not really thinking about pilaf right now.

So it will be hotdogs and lasagna, then chicken and Sally, and then burritos and something I have not decided upon yet. Need real food with junk food though. Maybe will have atrocious pork as that is easy to cook and my body calls that real food.
