As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
On November 1st, I had a new experience in we had to go to the funeral of a neighbor who moved here from Washington. Even though I assumed that nothing would SNAP in America, especially in the Brier, I was not going to take the chance in being inside a Church at a funeral with all the trusting Protestants there in being killed of all things at a funeral for the dead.
I thought I would explain my experience as perhaps this will be more something which might appear in the next months and years in our meltdown lives.
I liked the series Black List, well the first season, after that it was soap opera, but James Spader is a fun character creator and the creators brought forth a small of the back carry for a firearm and I was intrigued and was not dissuaded when the gun nuts all bitched about this carry.
I actually have a form of this carry for a 32 revolver, complete with a leather belt and Tonto buckle which the women that the Thrift had a low price on as they hate Indians apparently.
While I have 7 shot cylinder in mine, for the first carry I only loaded 4 rounds and had empty as I am a phobic believer in safety. As TL said, “If we can’t get it done in 4, there is no point”. I also never carry it cocked and loaded as in the above semi auto.
That said, when the gun was in the holster on the belt, with jean loops, I could not feel the weight. It was more like a wallet in my back pocket. There was some strain in long periods sitting at the beginning ,but on the trip home, I did not notice the gun and I had to check it as I moved around moving things around on the homestead and doing things I do, to make sure it was still in place.
The only thing I will change on this, is I will cinch the Tonto belt up a bit more as it is an inch loose and if I can I will thread it through the leather Wrangler emblem sown on for more support when I withdraw it.
Other than that, I found personally I was more aware and protective in being safe with the carry. TL even said, “I was amazed how many ushers were crawling around behind us. This happened 3 times. The first time, I thought, “Sure I am going to get a bullet to the back of the head and I’m the only one armed here”. I naturally scan my surroundings and crowd and felt protective of the people there, but at the same time, I had already found the exit route and my plan was most likely, unless moved by God, to withdraw with TL to safety, as I am not being paid nor is it my job to stop shooters. That is what people in authority or who put on funerals are paid for. Security is their concern, not mine. I protect us, myself, as others do not know who I am, why guns have appeared and who is good or bad.
I picked the back corner, back to the wall, and close to an exit. Yes that could be a shooter entrance, but I highly doubt a suicidal turd is going to waste their opening drama in back where no one can see. They want the main aisle and are there to put on a show. Besides, unless it is a head shot, someone puts a kill shot on me, I have 20 seconds to close on them and put the son of a bitch down with a head shot at 2 inch range as I will be furious at the insult.
So that is my experience on Constitutional Concealed Carry. No one knew but TL I was carrying and no one should. We were as secure as we could be, and ready to withdraw or defend. I personally like this carry, but some who do not like dogs bringing sand into bed, will most likely whine about it. I will continue to refine this carry as my other carry was a long rifle in the vehicle like most people are around here with guns numbering more than credit cards.
This 32 is like a 38, a revolver. Not a big honking 45 which I doubt would be any more of a problem. Semi autos, would all be thin mints in this form of carry too. This is my method, I have experienced it, and I will continue on, and you can carry or not carry or carry whatever makes you pleased. It is just that there is little information out there from non gun nuts of their experiences of carrying for defense, who are not looking for attention or to convince the world that their way is thee only way.
This fit me, like the irony that the first time I carry is going to Church for a funeral. That is the sort of irony that I find amusing in my ironic life.
