No one spends enough time on the US Navy as it spends too much money on the big cans in these Super Carriers which I have absolute doubts about, including why W Bush and Bill Clinton have two carriers named after them as one was an idiot and the other loathed the military!
In looking at the Venezuela situation in tracking US Navy ships, I can across something called the LITERORAL ship, normal people would call it a close in patrol boat, but not the Navy, in they came up with this waste of money which numbers dozens of these things.
While I completely agree with the US Navy and the Russian Navy going small and firepower, in the Destoyers……….ok I better explain in the pecking order.
Battleships
Cruisers
Destroyers
Frigates
Corvettes
I just do not like Destroyers.
In the first picture above is a British version of something they sold America in a twin hull Frigate so to speak. It has been churning water since 2005 so it has not sunk. The specs on this girl are good.

She is light though at 1600 tons. She also has the British love of light hulls in aluminum which get sunk easily.
As a designer of a tri hull super aircraft carrier which submerged, I really would like Secretary of War Hegseth to stop the Pentagon from wasting American money on junk.
I want these weirdo ships of the littorals melted down, and replaced en mass with three versions of the Sea Fighter. There should be 3 models all of the same design but different weight classes.
The first and biggest I want is a Wasp Class assault ship, 40 thousand tons. You might all it a battleship and I would too as I love battleships. She would be a trim girl for a big girl though, but I want versatile in a ship that can launch 1000 hypersonic missiles out the sides, carry a half dozen PT boats of twin hull, and can run helicopters or F 35’s off it’s deck. I want it all, a lightweight carrier and battleship, which hits like a fleet of ships.
As this design fills the reality of a carrier, a battleship, cruiser and destroyer, America returns to 1812 in our beloved Frigates. It is firepower in a 4000 ton package, with a compliment of PT boats. These are the escorts and the close in ships. They also would carry a submarine or two, in hunter killer fast attacks subs, up under their hulls.
I would deploy these in packs of 12. Four Wasp class and eight Frigate class boats. Same configuration for the big carriers.
I would put a nuclear type propulsion on an air cover of drones which would be constantly aloft, for a thousand mile grid, with lasers and kill anything that got close.
Ships are too slow moving, and big, therefore what must be complimented is more of them of appropriate size and massive firepower to have on ship capable of obliterating some pissy nation like England and enough getting through to pulverize China.
That is the fix.
