All I could find for this post was porn banana pictures in this perv world.
This post though is a helpful hint as somehow a new type of fly appeared out of our grocery. The gal who works there even mentioned these weird flies to us in they look like fruit flies but do not act like fruit flies.
I have been trying a myriad of ways to get them dead. I can't spray so the battle is how to kill enough of them. I thought I had them under control, but they found something else to breed in and I do not know what as there is not fruit sitting around and swarms appeared again.
They like white and off light brown to sit on. They love sitting in trash. They love buzzing me by my face. They like sitting by sinks, love finding new baked breads (I did use sourdough for awhile as a capture.) and then I happened upon something which was by accident as I hate eating bananas as too ripe ones gag me. Never have liked bananas.
So a peel was sitting there and I noticed these flies were glomming at it. So I got an empty plastic container (cottage cheese) and I baited it.
I had swarms of them.
I just sneak up, put the lid on and take them outside, as it is cold here and they just swarm me but they are outside.
Mind you, they do not like green banana skins. They like them turning black spots. I get almost a week out of them before they dry up and I have to start over. Bummer was the grocery only had green bananas so I have to ripen them for effect.
This is what I do in trapping as not trapping or snaring coyotes now. I have great fun in getting these bastards which seem some kind of genetic mutard in they don't like the normal things fruit flies do. They like more rotten things like a blow fly, which is disgusting. I'm just glad they do not like toilets. The old fruit flies that got into spoiled squash and things were always in toilets as the cellar had potatoes rotting and up they came...........oh and these do not give a rip about rotten potatoes.
Time to go check my traps.
