Another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
The first time like everyone when I saw Nicholas Cage, it was like, yeah this actor is not going anywhere and yet something rare happened.
Without the Scientology of Tom Cruz and without the liberal hype of Tom Hanks, while Stallone, Schwartzenegger and Willis were creating buzz, Nicholas Cage somehow kept landing movies and making those rolls into performances and movies which turned him into the most productive single Hollywood actor in history.
I don’t know what it is about this guy, he is kind of odd looking, he is not a great actor, but he is watchable and he makes movies you want to watch again and again.
Yes he has had some non productive clinkers, mostly bad news endings, but the stuff he has turned out, is quite amazing, in he took scripts that others would not make and could not make, like Drive Angry, and he made them hits.
American actor Nicolas Cage officially abandoned the surname Coppola given to him at birth in order to distance himself from the eminent relative — director Francis Ford Coppola. The actor told Variety about this.
“I officially changed my name last year. Now I am Nick Cage both in life and on the screen. It’s better to be the head of your little family than a clown cousin on the sidelines of a stranger,” the artist explained.
At the same time, the actor decided to leave his name “Nicholas” because his father gave him that name. However, he noted that it is possible to address him in different ways - both Nick and Nicholas.
Cage would make 29 movies with others starring, some like Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Valley Girl were cult hits, but it was not until 30 when he starred alongside Sean Connery in The Rock, that he moved into the leading man role. Cage had established himself in his career so the movies came, but #30 elevated him to where the entire spotlight was on him.
Face Off with John Travolta, 8MM with Joaquin Phoenix, Gone in 60 Seconds, and then his transcending movies came in 47 in National Treasure and 48 in Lord of War, moved Nicholas Cage into the spotlight that few have like Bruce Willis.
Hollywood owes this actor and yet allot of his last decades stuff is video on demand and Cage is returning to sequels like Lords of War.
I would that I could make a movie with Nicholas Cage, a roll I would have for him to cap off his career like Clint Eastwood did in Unforgiven. Always have wanted to make one movie to perfection and he would shine in the lead I would have for him.
