Whale Puss
Today my children in Lame Cherry exclusives in matter anti matter, we embark upon a voyage of knowledge in words you have heard or scents you have scented and have no idea the source.
Ambergris.
That sounds interesting in we will begin there in Shakespeare and Milton both mention this treasure.
Reference—" The sovereign'st thing on earth was parmaceti for an inward bruise"— will be familiar to most people, as well as Milton's mention of the delicacies at Satan's feast—" Grisamber steamed"—
Frank T. Bullen
Ambergris is a product of the Sperm Whale which as you can read was used for medicine and apparently satan enjoyed eating the excretion, as that is what it was in an excretion contained within Sperm Whales.
It was an interesting thing in women used to wear this all the time, as it is a very attractive perfume additive. Yes perhaps people might not be so prim and proper if they knew they had something akin to whale puss dabbed on their skin.
That of course was the olden times and now there are synthetic forms on the market, and I have a bottle of such, as it is used in perfumes in nature too, in lures to attract animals as they are drawn to this secretion.
There are many such things in this like cachalot, which looks like some Camelot word, but was the common term for the Sperm Whale, back when they were hunted with sailing ship and harpoon in a most dangerous living.
While doing studies on lubricrants, I constantly came across a reference to "train oil". Naturally I expected locomotives to be involved, but in early grease formulations, train oil was the chosen additive and not crude oil. Train oil was the rendered oil of whales, much like whale oil was the chosen clean burning fuel for world homes to see in the dark in pretty lamps.
There is a 20th century formulation from the American arsenal of the Army in Julian Hatcher who lists actually whale oil as an additive. It was to the 1960's that one still could obtain whale oil, as it was a listed base in some of the wolfer formulations by government trappers.
I personally find it hard to believe that people would burn oils that smelled of fish in their homes, so whale oil must have had a different scent to it.
The last commercial use of whale oil was for automatic transmissions in cars. I actually did a horrid run around in this field as someone posted that NASA used whale oil which set off a firestorm from idiots as it was said Homeland had a store of this, but the dolts in Congress would not find it, I could not get answer from the Canadians on anything their aboriginals produced and even a kindly woman at Homeland Security could only smile over the issue.
Yes Homeland Security does have normal people working there as do all agencies and they are not all the boogers you think they might be.
Whale oil has since been replaced with dewaxed crude oil now termed automatic transmission fluid being colored red.
In 1690, the whaling industry was initiated and it became American dominated, to the point of the War of Independence in 1776 when the spermaceti and whale oil was cut off to England and the English had to embark upon building their own fleet of ships which reached maximum number in 1791.
It is interesting in the British had to hire American whalers to teach them now to hunt whales and to harpoon them, but the British never did become the masters which the Americans possessed in natural gifts.
With so many ships now prowling the waters, the Greenland fisheries depleted and it was then in 1788 that the HMS Emelia, of Messrs Enderby rounded Cape Horn and by 1819 were plying the coastal waters of Japan for his Majesty in the HMS Syren.
The catch was 40,000 barrels per year, and the value was 8 pounds per barrel, which was a fantastic fortune really in the first oil boom in this world was from whales and not OPEC.
The zenith of American whaling was in the 1850's and I wonder of this fact that Ken Burns and his 5th column of leftists who despise that Confederate Flag and Olde Dixie never seem to seize upon a historical account that the American Civil War instigated by the Europeans and their abolitionist 5th column, actually did something the Confederates were never given credit for, and that was, the CSA Alabama, the great iron clad cruised the oceans of the world, and fired numbers of American whaling ships.
The American whaling industry never recovered after that war, and for those who might cheer, more formidable steel hull whaling ships would appear from other nations in the 20th century and almost wipe out the whales by the 1960's.
Yes that would be sure to make an Obama voters mind split in two as those evil rednecks of the South who had slaves, actually in warfare crippled the whaling industry.....which by design was replaced by Rockefeller Standard oil so Americans could breathe that soot and die as the cartel funded the Ken Burns leftists in a vicious circle where dead whales were replaced with dead Americans.
So I doubt you ever thought that glamourous women, whale puss, Confederate heroes to leftist whackos and the oil industry could all be tied together and yet here again in the amazing Lame Cherry exclusives in matter anti matter, such is the case.
You have once again learned something of real history which has been hidden away. Another day in the mind of Lame Cherry who knows all.
As an addition this, I found in the memoir, the Catchalot, a finding by the author that squid beaks and claws from the giant 20, 000 League under the Sea fame are found mixed in this ambergris, which is of interest in this whale puss, is like splinter fluid or a cyst fluid in humans, but in Sperm Whales it is a sweet smelling waxy substance, but in humans the substance is not pleasant.
So now you know the history and making of this rarest of rare things which fine women used to pour on themselves, it is squid fangs housed in whale puss....at least in their intestines.
