The Other Jesse James

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter and anti matter.

Jesse James is a renowned character of the Confederacy in his "The South will rise again", bank robberies in hiding treasures for that day.

There was though another Jesse James, and this one was from Tennessee and his name was James Card, and a Union loyalist.
James Card was a book seller and sometimes preacher, and sometimes doctor. He was employed by the Union Army by General Phil Sheridan for scouting and spying. His work included his younger brothers.

On one veture he and his second brother were captured, by guerrillas and awaited hanging, but escaped through removing a bar in their jail window. The younger brother had been sent to ascertain their condition, but was captured at their parents home by other guerrillas and he was hung.

James Card eventually left the employ of the military and was soon leading a band of 30 flint eyed men, bent on righting the wrongs done in Tennessee.

This vigilante group was known to the military and civilians, but nothing was done to stop this cleansing which was terrorizing the terrorists.

They simply hunted down and killed the Confederate sympathizers who had been actively harming the Union loyalists.

There is a movie starring Clint Eastwood as the Outlaw Josie Wales, a Southerner wronged like the romance always is portrayed, but there Northerners wronged greatly, and no mention is made of their clean up work and no bounties were placed on their heads as they were deemed a clearing of the slate.

This fringe warfare was what dominated many areas it righting of wrongs. James Card and his mounted Tennesseans were a necessary part of the ending of the war between the states. It would not have been pretty, but it was a part of history which was America and advocated, as events such as this could not have been in courts as there was not evidence, no more than James Card hanging the people he had evidence.

James Card robbed no banks, so he is not remembered. He did though with some Tennesseans execute guerrillas who were terrorizing the people caught in border states.
