The Hunter

My children, I dislike hound stories for the most part, even if I love hounds for the simple reason of all the dogs on earth, hounds seem to get killed the most in hunting.

The fashion was based on old European methods to have hounds which ran to bay and hounds which seized. This was all dangerous work with stags and wild cattle as dogs were kicked to death or gored, but it became especially heinous in wild bores, bears, wolves and large cats.
Europe not having cats, the noted breeds of bull dog and pit bulls, had not yet met their match.

The American Plott hound is the choice of dangerous game in bears and mountain lions, in that breed is quick from claw and fang. The slower breeds and the seizers like the Mastiff were very brave animals, but would get cut up all the time and often enough end up dead after just a few catches.

I place here Sir Samuel White Baker's account of his pack as an example, and why I particularily hate predators of all sorts.

"Good and bad luck generally come in turn; but when the latter does pay a visit, it falls rather heavily, especially among the hounds. In one year I lost nearly the whole pack. Seven died in one week from an attack upon the brain, appearing in a form fortunately unknown in England. In the same year I lost no less than four of the best hounds by leopards, in addition to a fearful amount of casualties from other causes."

Sir Samuel White Baker. Eight Years' Wanderings in Ceylon

It takes a very long time to train a hunting pack of hounds. In life, like humans, most dogs are stand around worthless, with only a few leaders which can be relied upon to follow the game and not the rascals.

For all the nitpicking on word usage, the one I have is LITTLE RASCALS, and yet the most intelligent of people use it all the time in complete ignorance.
Rascal, as a word is French European. It came from hunting with hounds. When you went hunting, you took out your pack, and the pack was to chase the stag or boar, and not the rascals.
The rascal are the non game like the fawns or the animals not to be chased. So to say little rascal is like saying "infant baby" or "little small" as it makes no sense.

There is great work in keeping hounds only chasing what is the sport. Coonhounds are not to be running deer or hares, just as cat and bear hounds are not to be running bunnies or coons.

Sir Samuel's hounds were taught in Asia to run stags. In the above, he eludes to the story of a stag hunt which killed his best dogs. Stags will kill dogs, and dogs will in chasing stags get into rivers and be swept away over falls, but in this story, the dogs broke and ran two deer.
The best stayed with the stag, which started an elephant and all were following that path, but fortunately the pack did not bring the elephant to bay a Sir Sam was unharmed.

The stag went to bay in a thicket of bamboo, and Sir Sam was hacking his way to it, when all of a sudden the music stopped and one of the bitches showed up frightened. She was covered with claw marks in a leopard had raked her.
During the follow up, Sir Sam would find his best hound panting on a rock, his throat closing from bite wounds which he died from the following morning after being carried back to camp. Some dogs were not found, some were carried back to camp where they died, but that damn leopard killed and maimed numbers of fine dogs which were like family to Sir Samuel.

Not long after, he shot a crouching leopard and then strangled the life out of it, and this probably in God's avenging was that heinous beast.

Theodore Roosevelt wrote of his Colorado hunting in which dogs were killed, and it bothered me as much as Sir Sam's dogs in their having been dead for over a century.

I fully realize that all life is life. I also realize that one of you my children is worth more to God and me, than a million of the culls who voted to change America. There are predators in this world. There is prey in this world and there are hunters in this world. There is a difference in a pack of hounds are hunters while predators are a killing breed for food who often enough just turn murderous, because they enjoy it.

I know enough about cats in understanding how damned peculiar they are about things. A PETA mind might look at animals as something meant for all in nature to consume, but a leopard, tiger, jaguar, lion or cougar has a different view of things in everything is THEIRS.
You have a pet walking with you, and it is not your pet, but the cougar or leopard peering out at you from the bush dictates it is theirs to kill, and you are too if they could get the angle on you.

Jaguars are particularily possessive of things, and become man killers when those people take those fillies out pastures to keep them safe from jags, which is a breach of jaguar executive orders.

The cats of Asia do take dogs, leopards are adept at this in killing dogs on their owners porches. People in America are finding this out in Mutant Dennis Daugaard of South Dakota in his Game and Fish group has raised mountain lions which are eating peoples pets through the American heartland.
This leopard though that murdered Sir Sam's puppies was probably incensed that Sir Sam and  the dogs were out killing "this leopards stags".
The forest was full of deer. Sir Sam while taking the best cuts and enough for his pack, would leave the rest for the leopards, but that was not good enough, in jungle dictatorship, and the cat just had to murder those dogs.

The hounds were game though in they did turn on the cat from the stag, but there was little that could be done, and they paid for it in close quarter combat.

I hate predators of all sorts as they are constantly killing things to live as that is what they do. When they are done killing all the fawns off, they show up and start killing my pets and livestock and the regime could give a damn.
There was a reason that American Government exterminated most of the predators in America, and left just a few specimens to eat garbage in Yellowstone as predators kill everything. They disrupt the balance which people in husbandry produce more wildlife with for the delight of those who like seeing things and those who enjoy eating things.

I would leave 12 grizzly bears in Yellowstone and Glacier, four wolves and four moutain lions divided equally.
Jaguars I would exterminate that came out of Mexico.

Coyotes and fox, I would put to the fur board making women look pretty and the ones which would not be caught I would dose with poison and clean them out.

The mink, wolverine, raccoon can all be trapped for fur.

That is the way America was meant to be managed by design.

I take the killing of hounds personal, as it is murder when these large predators are involved. It is just a dnagerous game when it is a stag or cat at bay in killing or wounding a dog, but when it is ambush in some coyote eating a dachshund out for a pee, that is homicide.

That is not prejudice or bias. It is fact. Dogs are extensions like all pets of the human family, as are livestock and allowing predators to roam free is no different than allowing child rapists and murderers loose in the human population.
Society exterminates things which disrupt the continuity of the society in not behaving.

Those damned bird hawks, horned owls and war eagles should all be introduced to a full load of lead or laid traps to reduce their numbers, or give the rural people a few tons of cyanide to put out meat baits and clean it all up as they did up to 1968 when Richard Nixon outlawed it all.

The same lawlessness of the American predator is the same lawlessness of the American predatory regime making prey of Citizens. The entire system is one murderous enterprise now.

People and pets require ethical treatment, the predators require obliteration with a few examples to be hunted down to put the fear of man into them.
