I was pondering something my children in death bed confessions.
Luke 23:43; And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
That verse is found only in the Gospel of Luke on Jesus crucifixion, in one of the two thieves who was not mocking Jesus, confessed his sin and asked to be with Jesus in His Kingdom.
It has always been a message of hope that all who call upon Jesus, even in the last moment will be saved.
Scripture points to the reality of the workers sent out in some working 1 hour, some 3, some 6, some 12, all receiving the same pay. The ones who grumbled were the ones who worked 12 hours and only received the same day's wages as the person who worked one hour, but in this parable, Jesus was clarifying that all receive the same Promise of Eternal Life, and that is what one receives whether a 70 year Christian or a 1 second Christian.
What I am moved though to clarify is that Christ indeed clarified again in a parables about payment in different forms for taking the talents God gives and utilizing them by growing them, and making things better here.
The parable utilized cities being rewarded or money as examples for Spiritual reward in Heaven, but we realize now two systems involved in this, in all who call upon the Name of Jesus will be saved, but that all are also rewarded in Heaven and hell for their activities in this life.
I want you to think of it this way, because the Catholics have this almost vomit laden unction to theologically debate this in mmmmmurrrderrrrrssss, for the word murder in which their Catechism classes are infused with as I have listened to them, and they speak of salvation, but what if someone had committed all these mmmmmurrrrderrrrsssss, which then opens the door to paying the Vatican cash to buy people out of perdition, just like the license spread by people thinking a death bed confession is there excuse for being assess all their existence here.
Think of it if you have two dogs. One is an Irish Setter who lays at your feet, fetches your slippers, goes off hunting on her own and brings you pheasants and partridge to eat....picks and cleans them too, drives off intruders, always potties outside, and pulls your covers up if you are cold........even went into a burning house to save your child in dragging them out.
Your other dog is a Mexican Chiauhau, who poops in your bed, steals food off your kids plate, pees on the rose bushes, dry humps the priest's leg, chewed up your DVD's of your wedding, brought home other mongrels who ate your cat and killed your kid.........but after 12 years 364 days and 23 hours, 58 minutes, he brings you your slippers and then drops dead.
Now you had promised your dogs if they acknowledged you as Mistress that you would place them in a nice grave with a tombstone that said they were your puppies, and you keep your word.........the difference is, which one is going to be buried beside you and have a golden crypt built with a silver statue of them over their grave.........and which one is going to just get the stone with a few words on it?
That is the reality of this. If someone has been a beast with a smile their entire lives, they are not going to receive the same reward or honor as someone who has been a genuinely good person. God is more than fair and is not a fool. The reward that St. John received in Faith is the same eternal Life as the thief on the cross, but St. John is going to be rewarded for his dedicated life of being good and serving God and others, while the thief's accounts will have no rewards as they are empty.
Salvation makes the difference. If the thief had not called upon Jesus, he would have been in hell which he chose, and that great emptiness with all his past evil, would then be this evil person's reward.
Far too many people think the Name of Jesus or calling themselves a Christian, allows them to be horrid people to others and to point to the "pick and choose" of, "Well I donated a gift box to Franklin Graham's ministry and I open doors for old people".........yes, and you also are the beastmonster who hurts their children, makes life hell for those you deem are not up to your standards in judging them and do it all with a smile, thinking you are conning God and the world.
Good works alone do not get you into Heaven. It is the Gift of Christ only that saves. No one does enough good in this world to nullify the heinous things they are doing every day.
I do not aim this at those already convicted and examining themselves in knowing they do not measure up. This is for the people who have already done the inventory and pronounced themselves holier than thou.
I featured Donnie Dead recently, and TL attended the funeral in which the preacher ran down the list of how great a guy Donnie was. This was the same guy who in jealousy had attacked TL over an employers acknowledgement of TL's service, and this is the same smart ass I met once sitting on his arse not working, but making comments at TL and me.
Donnie was all church goer with the clergy as that was his act and he fooled the fools. The real person was like most of you reading this in being as Jesus said a whitewashed crypt, dead and rotten inside.
Ask the people who hate you sometime how wonderful you are, and if they can be honest, that is the first assessment of how you really are in this life. For example your evil, just killed my duck hen in a fox chewing her to death as she sat on eggs. You decided being a rich person to not donate, so I could not be where I should be, and the end result is a scream to God's Heaven, little ducks dying of cold in the eggs, and more distress in my Spirit.
So for those using Jesus Name as a license and thinking of death bed confessions, just remember the above is 1 incident and you got 365 of them a year piling up and tens of thousands before your heinous self checks out.
In the movie Arn, about a Christian Crusader in Scandinavia and his betrothed, she is impregnated before marriage and sent away to convent where a Mother Superior treats her like a dog. When the Mother is dying, she begs the woman to forgive her.......the woman says forgiveness is of God to Judge and the Nun goes wild screaming at the woman, as she wanted a pass for all her heinous reality.
It is not going to happen that way that any one gets away with anything. Jesus forgives and saves, but Jesus also knows who are the ones who are frauds.
"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
Matthew 7:22, 23
Believe me you brats, this day you will receive the same generosity from me which you have heaped at me in your afflictions upon me.
I have warned you deluded that no man or woman is going to Judge, but Christ alone, and if humans were involved, they would be swayed. Christ will not sway one iota. You will get what you have worked for in your hidden sins and what you deserve.
You are told to change, but you will not change. You have your pleasure now while the children of God will have their pleasure in Christ in the next Life.
