My children, in every storm there is a Bible open on a table after the house blows away it seems, and that is like Daniel in the Lion's Den the message for all Christians in Faith. God does place us where we can serve and enjoy His Gifts best.
When God gives a house to be made into a home, that is the home He intends. We can always prepare for an emergency in a shelter in a more remote location, but there are always signs from God and movings in where we should be.
In the more nuclear age, I always hoped the Soviet nukes were accurate. This may sound odd, but in my location, I did not want them falling short or not hitting the targets aimed at, as it meant they would be hitting me.
The best advice to all is to listen to God and He will tell you things, and if He is silent, then it is something that you do not need to know, and you are doing and are where the Lord intends.
Children are the Gift of God, and even in the worst of times it speaks of children being born, as God always gives children. It is not to worry about keeping people safe nor our children to be born, but to trust in the Lord, that He will do His job in keeping us safe in providing for each of us, as that is what He does.
It is not about not being afraid either, as to fear is human, but about giving control of that fear and emotion to God for His keeping, asking for His Peace and Joy, and binding and rebuking the sources of fear in Jesus Name as that is a tool satan will use to steal, kill, and destroy as much of our Life in God as it can. Fear does not mean there is no Faith. It is an opportunity to exercise the muscle of Faith to help it grow strong and the Child of God to mature into the men and women who God intends us to be.
If you have money, then by all means prepare to what you can afford. The remote areas of South Africa are filled with bastions built against a foe which never was, but the Boers prepared. You have to think not about survival as in a bunker, but how to eliminate any threats which will come at you where you are in your remote location.
That means supplies and water with you. That means you have impediments as iron gates which slow down an adversary while exposing them to your direct fire from loop holes in which you are behind concrete. There are tricks in this and even things such as an underground shelter having 90 degree angles in the halls, because nuclear radiation can not turn a corner, are things to keep in mind.
I do not want people thinking the world is under siege and they are so much the gophers. In reality the key event to set all of this off, is the desecration of the Temple to be yet built at the 3 1/2 year mark, and at that the world falls apart. So you have time, and have a life God has given each to live and enjoy in Him.
I want all to be aware that even death is not the end, even if we think suffering and death are the worst things. King David on the death of his first child with Bathsheba, spoke the words which are True in he mourned for the child, hoping God would have mercy, but washed himself after the child died to live out his life in the Lord, as David would go to be with the child one day.
Jesus lectured us not to worry about tomorrow as today had enough trouble in it. Sometimes it just helps to be like all the ignorant monkeys and living today and not taking on the burdens of tomorrow not yet born.
I would counsel to live your lives, have the children God blesses you with, to do all the things you desire to in loving your spouse and growing your gardens with Joy in receiving these Blessings, because Jesus informed all of us in His Revelation to St. John, Matthew 24, Luke 21, Daniel, Amos, that you are not going to miss all hell breaking loose, as it is the Great Tribulation. We are not in the Tribulation, so we live for Christ in the Life He leads.
Simple be Faithful to the Lord and Love each other, and you have fulfilled all you are mandated to.
Martin Luther lived in war times. He was hunted by the Vatican. Yet he was given with his wife and six children, a farm to enjoy and raise things. God grows you as much as any plant I see sprouting in the cracks of the asphalt here. He knows you and knows all things. He has plans for you, and life is not one hectic series of monumental events. Jeremiah lived an entire life before great events changed things, and Jeremiah was still alive through it all and protected in God's Grace.
And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.
