Even Genius
As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.........
"The absurdity of exploding gunpowder in a shell at the breech of a gun, and persisting in the advantage of it, is certainly tilting at a windmill."
William Greener. Gunnery in 1858 / Being a Treatise on Rifles, Cannon, and Sporting Arms
I enjoy experts, especially at the change of the ages of the advancement of mankind. Before Columbus made proof of God sitting upon the circle of the world in the world not being flat, the expert consesus was that the world was indeed flat.
In the study of the art of gunmaking, I enjoyed the treatis for all the information and genius of William Greener of England. He was one of the few experts in metals, alchemy, physics and invention of his day. His understanding made great advancement for the British Empire, and yet as this age turned from muzzle loading firearms to breech loading cartridge firearms, William Greener recorded the above statement in 1858.
It would be less than 5 years later, in America, due to a European instigated civil war to ruin America, that the Americans would advance technologies which had only been dabbled with and dismissed in the previous century.
Americans would perfect the submarine and iron clad as a method of war. Locomotive warfare and telegraphic warfare would be pioneered, and in this era the .58 caliber mini ball musket of the French design would give way to two rifles in the Sharps breechloader and the Spencer lever action repeating rifle.
By the advent of the Plains Indian Wars of 1870, there would not be found any muzzle loading armaments in the United States military. 1858 Remington muzzle loading pistols would be converted to cartridge guns in the advent of Col. Samuel Colt's 45. The Winchester repeating rifle would replace the Yellow Boy or Henry lever action rifle, and by 1880 the world would have left even the single shot Sharps in oblivion as much as the muzzle loading guns.
The age of breach loading, cartridge firing guns had made an end to the arguement of William Greener, as there was not any tilting at windmills, as it was all advantage to the shooter.
This is not in the least to mock Mr. Greener, as in 1858 he was correct, as there really was not any advantage of a single shot cartridge gun to a muzzle loading rifle. An astute Soldier could fire both at about the same rate. Cartridges were in fact cumbersome and a nuisance, but with the Americans in using magazines, they could load a rifle on Sunday and shoot all week, much to the exasperation of the Confederates who faced that kind of fire.
Greener would make their own cartridge guns in seeing the benefits, and not be cemented in the propaganda of climate change by nefarious elites profitting from the system. It was a most interesting thing though to note changes in humanity, for before the Wright brothers, no one thought it possible to fly. They experimented when the always experts said it was insane, and they flew.
The world is at another flat world period, where scientific advancement has been gaurded and propaganda rules the masses in deluding them for control. Advancement will require a liberty generated physics leap again for another era of achievement.
Dreams simply be need to be dreamed and accomplished. I have been humiliated by experts mocking my dreams, but they are paid to steal ideas and to suppress advancement which does not benefit their masters. Few of the experts though ever put things into books to be found later to show what fools they are.
Even genius though sometimes does not comprehend what it sees. Sometimes it takes the babes to make a light bulb and leave the oil lamps behind.
