His name was Sousi, that would be French for Joseph, but it was hard to tell if he was a bastard or not as he was one of 22 sons thrown by Frenchman from Montreal known as Beaulieu as Seaton tells it.
The original bob seems to have found French Quebec too tame, so he and his cohorts arrived sometime in 1840, and he commenced to breed apparently most of the squaws of the northern region east of the Great Slave.
Everyone who ventured to the Great Slave, came a back with one warning of stay away from anyone named Beaulieu as they were a queer lot. This was before the modern homosexual, and queer just meant they were all abnormal, sort of like the modern homosexual which Dear Abby says are all born abnormal and sex acts are not a choice.
That sounds queer too, but this is about half breed French by one ruffian.
No one knew Sousi's age as all he knew was that it had a 9 in it, and the men said he was 79 or 89 and the women all said he was 59. Apparently Sousi Beaulieu wore more on males than females.
He dressed in cast off clothes and looked like a bum, but he always had nice moccasins and his rifle was always well taken care of. He never fathered a child like his namesake, but did raise a number of children who came from only where they knew.
He took great care of his horse.
He had been hired to show the government man the buffalo of the north, but refused to do so, as the wolves were eating all the buffalo. The wolves in question seemed to look a great deal like the Indians.
On the venture to find buffalo, they were found as were old skeletons, taken by wolves it was said, but there was not a wolf to be found in howl, track nor hair.
There were buffalo calves though in the herd which meant something was killing the buffalo, but in any event the killing done was to a sow black bear and her two cubs too young to survive and up a tree by Sousi.
Sousi broiled the cub with delight, and soon enough while taking his government man to find more buffalo was instead on his way home with buffalo meat.
It was of interest that it required on day to find buffalo and 5 days to get the Indians to take the riders to find the buffalo.
It must have been something to found an entire race of yourselves back in the day.
You do know that most American Indians like the Afriod are mostly white don't you?
Odd how white people are forced to pay for minorities, including Mexicans which are half Spanish white, and no one ever questions why all these white blooded peoples get paid welfare by other white blooded peoples when the white blooded peoples get no welfare and only taxed and put into prison if they don't pay the taxes.
