Think of this as a more complex molecular interaction the carbon forming coal to diamonds, and if one adds certain base molecular structures one ends up with different colored diamons from brown to blue, but also the other gemstones in rubies, emeralds and sapphires.
Examine this in sulphites which gold is not associated with but other metals gold is associated with is, pyrites which is iron, and quartz which is silicon. Sulphur is the basis of life in the alchemist and what life decomposes to. Iron is the physical material of life blood, and, silicon is a material which in theory life could be based upon, as it already has birthed artificial intelligence.
The commonality of gold means it is either the product of life in purity or it is so common that it's bi product is fused in life.
Gold is created by three superstructures in the fusing of complexes, and as each are not related, but gold remains the associative element, it means that gold is the bridging gap like stars twinkling across the sky or the meteorite streaking in veins.
In most known cases, gold is a small product of molecular attraction, but it has been shown to form nuggets as much as concentrations in veins, so there is a creative craft involved in this, which when repeated would form gold as readily as grease for a bearing or pudding for your desert.
