I have for you a tale of two Concordances, one a self worship of intellectualism and the other a devout examination of Scripture.
My reason for including that is, a theologian is as worthless as the modern physicist in their theories, for that is all they are is conjecture, self stroking their ego, as they dance upon pin heads of whether a word is in Greek or Latin.
I have these two Concordances, because they were in the Second Hand Store, and religious material there is free......and I always pick up religious books. My last visit, I acquired this Concordance, a German masters for Newlyweds in portraits of Christ, a revised version of the Apocrypha, a these imprint on Martin Luther, and a giant print KJV. Probably one hundred dollars in books and all free.
The Commentary on the Whole Bible by Robert Jamieson, AR Fausset and David Brown published in 1871 still holds factual through those two centuries since have passed.
The antithesis of this is The New Bible Commentary Revised in 1953, published by Guideposts and Edited by D. Guthrie, JA Motyer, AM Stibbs and DJ Wiseman is a complete anal retention of what comes out of the fleshly heart.
I was checking the Matthew book in the Commentary on the Whole Bible, and perhaps it was my mistake, but in the Zondervan printing, it speaks of Wheat and Weeds, while in my KJV it is talking about something completely different.
I give you though this old book. I never checked if it is e book free as still am on dial up, but I desired to settle something for you which has been known for 18 centuries, and it is the identity of 666.
The source for this, as everyone likes to know Lame Cherry sources, as of course it is too difficult to read or use a search engine, is the Christian, IRENAEAS, in 328 AD in the year of our Lord.
Who was Irenaeas, and why should he be accepted as the legitimate source? Irenaeas was the disciple of the Christian Polycarp.
Polycarp was the disciple of St. John the Divine. You might know him from the books in the Bible by his name and Inspired by the Holy Ghost. You might also have heard of his Master in St. John is the disciple of Jesus the Christ......and if you venture to the book of Revelation, you find that the Revelation of Jesus Christ is to St. John the Divine.
So in tracing this back, one has Jesus, John, Polycarp and Irenaeas in Irenaeas actually touched the man who touched the man recorded in the Bible who had touched Jesus the Christ.
Irenaeas explained that 666 was contained in the numbers of the Greek letters, LATEINOS.
L - 30; A - 1; T - 300; E - 5; I - 10; N - 50; O - 70; S - 200.
There was no secret as to the early Christians focused on Rome as the anti Christian world system, along with their Godless emperors. What was foretold and what arose was the Popery, as Martin Luther termed it, of the Vatican.
It is not "the number of a man", but in the correct translation, it means, it is "counted as people number things". Meaning, it is the numerical number of the name of the beast. The coming Neo Roman Empire, set into motion by the installation of image Obama, is European based in ruling the world, and the Vatican will be the false religion which welds this system to power, and this beast or empire will turn on the Catholics.
If you bother to actually find the devout works of Christians, before satan polluted every modern word, much of the information is there.
I am not giving this centuries old concordance carte blanche, but it is one of the better Bible study works which has interesting views on Bible, not of ego, but of a perspective which is interesting to ponder.
