His method of propagating the virus produced a MUTANT strain which replicated in children's intestines readily. The Sabin virus could not readily imprint it's RNA template on a host cell, which means that it was like catching a cold in your hand, as it had no real danger or effect on the rest of the body.

My brother noted after you contracted this and were well, a cough formed and it did in the bronchial tubes, and last night TL and got a bit of a setback as this thing mutated.
