A Pretty La'me Day
As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
I am most thankful to God for today. I publish what a good day looks like in my part of the brier patch to give you an idea of in my orphan state I am thankful for a shitty day.
As another blizzard was forecast, I decided at 5 above for the high, that we had to get to town to do errands and get the legal things done for the mother. This means shutting down her bank accounts which we had to keep open for Social Security checks and dropping off our taxes in lieu of another blizzard is forecast next Tuesday when we are supposed to get our taxes done.
So Baby Moo is out of the pen and I have to do chores, which I dread in the deep snow and slipping hazards as both goats keep acting like they want to die from the cold.
I get the pick up plugged in as it needs to warm up, and I can not leave it plugged in or the electric will go through the roof.
Our fuel tank was leaking the other day again, it is supposed to be fixed now a second time, and in that the fuel truck came to deliver fuel before the 20 below cold and blizzards as he will not be able to get up to the place if it is bad. Conditions here are at a stand still point in everything has reached it's limit by HAARP.
So the pick up starts and we have to make it the miles to the highway which we do in snow drifts, in a two wheel drive as I can not afford a four wheel drive, and the highway is clear, but the snow is drifting across it.
First stop at the bank, takes longer than I thought it would as Wells Fargo just implemented new close out account procedures, which really sucks, but it was good that my name was on the account, and the Holy Ghost warned me to bring along a death certificate which they did indeed require, even with my name on the account.
That done we cashed out and I was surprised there was a bit more in the account that I figured, which still does not make up for all she stole from me.
Next up we had to do the feed store. Lacy was good. Did the grocery, was pleased it was only 50 bucks this time. I forgot to get the cat food, but has I have about two buckets left I hope that makes it until Saturday, in the hope we can get out of the yard.
That done, we go to the tax preparers office, and she is in, which surprised me as she does not usually work afternoons. I was just dropping things off in case we could not get back in next Tuesday, but the nice gal at the desk went and got her, and next thing I knew we were back in her office and I was trying to explain that our appointment was next week, and she said, "That's ok, we will go over things and you will not have to come back in next week probably".
WUNDERBAH!!! No worry about piles of snow, wrecks, cold, blizzards and trying to get things done here so we make it to town by 10 in the morning.
I am pretty thankful at this point, so we go to the thrift shop and I find for 2 dollars a stainless steel roasting pan which is well used. As the mother only had those blue enamel pans which chipped, this pan will round out our cooking ware nicely as I do not have a small roaster.
Perhaps I can drill a hole in it and put in a replacement steam vent for another roaster, as the steam seems to come out by the handles as they are well browned.
So we say hi to a nice man who says HI to us as he remembered us from the burger place and we celebrated by getting a burger as we have coupons, as God is nice in the one gal there sticks coupons in our bag. God bless her for that.
I am in a good mood and want my TL time, so we take the gravel roads home and the drifts. Not smart, but I want TL time so I plough through the snow and I do mean plough. There are two areas on this county road which are a bitch. It is part greedy farmers not leaving anything on the fields and just the way the land is. In both cases it is by a urbanite's place.
The one gets my attention after the warm up plunge in it is about 150 long with a solid drift. There is an art to this in you need speed, about 40 mph, but too much speed will flip you when you hit the drifts. These drifts were soft and not hard, as hard drifts will break a wheel off or your frame as they are like running over concrete curbs.
With snow flying off the GMC like the abominable snow monster, I look back quite pleased in we are not stuck, not a wet engine, and I think we can make it home cross country.
We have our apple to celebrate our good fortune and then we hit the lucifer lane. Yes another rich farmer worth like under a hundred million dollars has snow drifting on this mile long road. His kid is a doper or was. Just a bad family of whoremongers as they can afford it.
The thing is, once I start, the road does not look too bad, but I can not turn around on it. I am committed to see it through and I hit the first few drifts and think it is not so bad, and then we hit valance alley. Another 100 yards of bumper deep snow drifts and I am like.......oh my this was not a good idea, but I hit them and as I say afterwards, God, Holy Angels and the GMC do very well for overcoming foolish children adventures.
I do not like being told I can not go places and it gives a sort of accomplishment in tempting fate. I cut my fortunes though in we made it to the highway and we took the long way home from there as the road from the west leading to the Good Time Ranch on Clay Knob (our homeless situation) had a vehicle stuck on it and a school bus trapped on Monday, so I did not tempt that hellish road.
In that, being exhausted we got home a 4 pm. I did chores for watering, kitties, baby calf and Baby Moo, who will not stay in her pen unless I wire it shut, I indulged in taking a nap with TL.....oh and this year I get a 500 dollar deduction from the IRS as TL is my dependent even though I depend on TL.
I slept two hours and this is my second post as of 730 which I have written as I have to post at least 3 a day to keep the blog working in the future.
The thing in this is, when TL first came up here, TL would give me hell for the stunts I pulled in going places normal people would not. Now TL is the one telling me "I think we can make it". I would be more prone to trying things if I had a winch or a mother who would come and rescue us, as was my luxury in time past, but all my old relatives are dead and my brother is not driving 500 miles to pull me out of a ditch for being me.
So with bad weather supposed to be closing in, I thanked God for all of our good fortune today as things went right for a change and I am most grateful to God for His Mercy and Grace.
I even was moved to catch the fuel guy as he was writing the ticket out, to pay him, so I did not have that hassle like last time in figuring out if he got the check and what the deduction is.......if we pay early it is almost 1 dollars off.
So I give thanks to God for the good day, as I have not had a good day in over a few years. It leaves me with a smile and it makes things allot easier even if other things have not changed. Thank God for a good day.
