For the readers faithful to this blog, they will remember that I often use South Dakota as a case study of politics or trends as the cartel has a fixation on that cow chip state. Some of you in all the information here will remember my praise and puzzlement for South Dakota in the Coronavirus saga. Praise for Governor Noem and puzzlement over a hot spot in that state which did not make sense.
In tracking down the reason for this hot spot in Beadle County, I was stunned at the story behind it. We have all heard of the Kirkland nursing home disaster in Washington and no one is missing the horrid conditions in New York City, but what has happened in Huron, South Dakota is one which even tears at my jaded heartstrings.
I desire each of you to remember this story when you hear George Noory whining about the flu being worse than Coronavirus or Bill Mitchell with his "buy the dip" diatribes, as this is the story of State Representative Bob Glanzer.
This Republican contracted the virus and became deathly ill. He was airlifted from Huron to Sioux Falls Avera hospital which is associated with the University of Minnesota, and is the best in the world.
I wondered at the spike in cases in Huron, and it had to do with Glanzer family, as they being Christians rallied around their sick, which included the wife of Bob Glanzer, who had just undergone breast cancer surgery.
From close family, to extended family in the Glanzer clan, they all had contact with the infected, and by Saturday, a cousin dropped dead, before her test returned positive.
At this moment, Bob Glanzer's son, Tom, is living in the basement of his mother's home, caring for her, with gloves and mask on. She sleeps upstairs and he has opened every drawer to reduce surface contact. There are times he sees his mother not breathing and thinks she has died too. When the phone call came for the death of his cousin from the doctor, he thought it was his father.
Bob Glanzer is not expected to recover. He is on a ventilator and can not breathe on his own for a week. So much for Dr. Anthony Fauci in his anecdotes on Chloroquine, and those who have sought to sabotage that treatment, as Bob Glanzer needed that drug, and all of these people have now murdered him.
This reminds me of the old small pox epidemics of Plains Indians, where entire families and villages were wiped out. The Glanzers rallied around and cared for their sick, but each one became infected with a plague. At last count, 21 people were infected. 12 recovered, 1 died, and only a miracle will save this Republican.
No Rush Limbaugh common cold, no George Noory the flu is worse and no Bill Cunningham "we got to get this economy going", matches what this family will never recover from in a real pandemic, started from a biological weapon in Wuhan China and is now in a town no one on earth has heard of, just like the villages in Italy and Spain.
The question in this is where in the middle of nowhere did this virus appear. 10 days ago Bob Glanzer had a high fever and was still speaking to the press and self isolating, He also did not believe he infected 10 other people in Huron, in he had no contact with them, but it is the question where did 11 people in the middle of nowhere contract his virus from?
He said he's had a fever that kept ramping up. He received the positive test result on Sunday. He's been self-isolating for about a week and doesn't believe he's had contact with any of the 10 people who have tested positive in Beadle County, he said.
Everyone likes to talk and think big. New York City has tens of thousands of cases, but in South Dakota a small town is suffering the most tragic of stories in this pandemic. No one has the answers in this plague and no one ever will. All there is, is the evidence that Coronavirus is very real, in not nameless people, but in real people, entire families and entire communities being devastated by a biological warfare release in the first Germ War the world has known.
Maybe Kathy Griffin would like to apologize for her grandstanding or Tom Hanks apologize for his public relations stunt, as Bob Glanzer didn't have time for selfies or press releases, as real Coronavirus has destroyed his ability to breathe on his own.
