As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
I have the best Auntie in the world.
The thing is we are not related by blood.
She was my Uncle's second wife and I always felt bad that my Uncle left her with a pile of debt and other problems as she deserved better than that.
She is a tough woman though and I would never want to be on the bad side of her, a real prairie woman out in North Dakota.
So with this coof going on, I was meaning to write her, as she wrote a letter to us this past spring, lettered TAPED FOR YOUR PROTECTION, meaning she taped the envelop shut. With the virus though I was not going to expose her to anything from us or the mail, and each time things settled down a bit, I either got busy and forgot or it was back to the plague spreading.
So I finally slipped in a letter and apologized as I did feel bad in taking that long to answer her, and today a brown paper envelop arrived, with her thanking me for our letter and reminding her that she had to write us.
Inside the package was her handmade and designed face masks. I mean these things are works of art and I am going to tell her that they are too pretty to wear and I am going to put them in a display case. There are coyotes and horses, and just the most beautiful colors. I was just touched and floored by her kindness, but that is Auntie. She is loyal and faithful as all get out. I adore her, more than the people I am blood related too as most of them are real assholes.
I hope someday to be able to stop by and see her, as that Teddy Roosevelt country is just what my Spirit needs. I just thought when I opened that letter which was 12 pages and prints of pictures of her life there in gardening and things, that Auntie loves us, and she does, and we love her as she is a good shit.
I know that is one project I will get done and not put on the back burner in building a display case for her artistic masks. She is good shit this Auntie and that is the odd thing about it, as we were sitting at breakfast years ago in a diner, and there was Auntie, another aunt, the mother, a woman who married a cousin of my dad's and me. I was the only Cherry in that bunch, and I just was perplexed in here all of us were, not related by blood, but as faithful as if we were related by blood, because we were family by marriage.
Never had much of a mother, but Uncle got me a pretty good blessed Aunt.
