Sen. Lindsey Graham warned that any potential pardons being considered for people who took part in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot would tarnish President Trump's legacy.
The South Carolina Republican told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday he believes anyone who breached the Capitol in a riot that left five people dead must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
"I don’t care if you went and spread flowers on the floor, you breached the security of the Capitol, interrupted a joint session of Congress, you tried to intimidate, assault, you should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and to seek a pardon of these people would be wrong, I think it would destroy President Trump, and I hope we don’t go down that road," Graham said.
Mr. President, I honestly do not know if you are going to save America or save your own skin. You have that right to work a deal to try and save yourself and your family, but unless you have been a fraud all along, I doubt it will work.
For that reason, the Lame Cherry appeals to you, in the Wisdom of Christ, in the parable of the man who had a huge debt owed to those in power, and unable to pay it, he went out and forgave the debts of the poor, because he knew he would not find mercy for his debts, but if he showed mercy to others, they would protect him out of gratitude for his kindness.
Mr. President, I appeal for a national amnesty for everyone of your supporters. I state YOUR SUPPORTERS, as they did not murder anyone. They answered your call to come to DC and were set up as you were. I ask you not for amnesty not for those at the Capitol, but those across America who are going to be criminalized. Protect them with this carte blanche covering, and they will remember you forever in the future. Women were beaten for you and murdered for you. Repay that loyalty and make it perpetual that no charges can be levied against them now or in the future.
Make it an executive order in the amnesty that they can not be sued. Make them the apple of your eye and untouchable. Make them so Mr. President and you will be untouchable and so will your family.
Do not abandon your people Mr. President as they are your insurance. They believed you. They stuck with you. They are going to be persecuted if you do not stop this. Your staying in office is what you should do, but if you cut and run, do not leave your people to be destroyed in courts as they are not rich, they do not have access to legal talents and they are being put out of their jobs.
The Lame Cherry pleads for them, that you sign an additional Executive Order under amnesty which can not be rescinded, that the Department of Justice is from this point on, responsible for defending them in filing civil rights suits against all those who seek to intimidate them or stop their being employed.
