As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
For all the enigma that here am I, and all the talking I do about myself and being a private person, I do not reveal a great deal about me. Doing this blog has zapped most of what is life out of me. I work most of the time, and sick a great deal of the time and sleep what is left. If I could though in having the money, health and time, I would be doing what is featured below, in walleye fishing.
The torture of heat, gnats, cold and numbness is the misery of being with my Beloved Uncle, in fishing for walleyes in his 16 foot Lund boat. All I had was a Zebco 606 and him telling me to get something better, as he had a Garcia 5000, and a rod I watched him snap the end off in his pick up door, as I was not going to catch hell and question him as to why he had his fishing rod out the door when he closed it, as adults were never to be questioned.
Our last fishing, and we went fishing the last time together in it was his last time was for Northern Pike. It was lovely and we did pretty good that day. In two months he would be dead, but that day was something I still yearn for.
Whether it was bottom bouncers, jigs, daredevils or shad raps, walleyes were the course as we ate fish, and there is nothing like seeing that white moon on the tail in knowing you have one on, when you pull it up from the deeper water.
I'm not asking you to watch all of Al Linder's fishing, but he is the one who changed fishing from bass to walleyes in America. He is a remarkable man, a true natural in fishing and teaching, and he loves it. The below feature is with his son as they all get along and all fish. It is though at the 25 minute mark that I would have you listen to Al Linder in what he has to say.
Hair Jiggin’ Walleye – Angling Edge TV
For those too busy, Al is celebrity, a legend as large as William Shatner or John Wayne in his world. He was contacted in April one year from one of those foundations to take a kid fishing who was sick. He got busy as he does run a business and he is out fishing, so he forgot to take this kid fishing.
Come October, he called up the charity to line up the fishing, and was told he kid died.
Al said he closed the door and cried. He had his God moment in God telling him, "I chose you to do this, but as you didn't, I got someone else to do it. Don't blow it next time".
Each of us has to get their priorities straight. Maybe it is something as simple as my cussing assholes today who were not parking in the parking spaces so I had to drive around to get gas, and when I tried, some other asshole backed out and drove where I was driving, and then another asshole backed out and tried to get gas, but did the wide swerve, so I went to the pump, but I had it with people wasting my time in not being able to park their car.
When God gives you the opportunity, do it, because Mordecai told Esther the same thing in God working through her that He told Al Linder. Al learned and made good, and he has done so much for giving people pleasure, instead of frustration in fishing.
Just remember the priorities are getting your head right with God, and your family, then maybe God will try you out on the outside world, as most people fail enough by the time they try to leave their driveway.
