At 2 AM I was shopping for sewing machines. I can not afford canvas jackets and have to patch pants, so that means a heavy duty sewing machine, straight stitch, although I would like zig zag for patching. I'm negotiating with myself that I have 4 old jackets that I can disassemble, take the pieces, cut them out on brown duck, camo or whatever and then use this machine to resurrect them like Jesus from the tomb. Just have to factor in expensive Carharts and that offsets the cost of a machine.
I really want to make some poncho type tarps, make good cover from wind and rain, and a tent I could wear on the move, the right pattern and it is camo.
OK teaching moment. Camo is NOT camo if it is on a light background. Think about it. You wear that forest shit outside the shade of the trees and you stick out like a sore thumb. We used to wear Key brown duck coveralls which were sun bleached out in cornfields and rushes to hunt geese and ducks, Was better than camo. You do not see many animals with camo on their fur. Most animals are neutral colors in brown or grey. Look at a German Shepherd sometime. Unless there is snow on the ground, those dogs you can loose in low light if they are right beside you.
