Just a Junk Yard Away

Who me? I'm Sallie Salvage, I get all of my problems in four door cars.

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

I hope all of you had a happy Thanksgiving. God served up to us a warm sunny day after a month of chem cough chit. It was much appreciated in God's doing in being in His camp.

I wanted to touch on this as Anne helpfully wrote that Pine Tea works and that is a wonderful confirmation.

Her other joy is our joy, in loving the greatest place on earth, the Junk Yard.

Dear LC, Thanks again for the heads up about pine tea. It really works. There's nothing more fun than time spent in a junk yard! Take care and best to you and TL Anne

We usually stop and talk to JYG twice a week if it is not Arctic cold. He always talks to us or about an hour, so he likes us. Am getting him a six pack of A & W Root Beer for Christmas as that is what he drinks. You have to pamper the most important person in your survival.

I admire junk yard people immensely. They all know how to fix things and make things. JYG is artistic in he makes atomic fall out radiation signs for his mug he drinks out of  and other things. I think he spends as much time on stuff like that as working. One of our projects he restored last year I had him put his brand on it. He liked that. Still talks about that item so........I think he did not like us getting it, but as it was us, he would rather have us have it than anyone else. He  told us that.

As the Lame Cherry family here knows, we have been invested in JYG for a number of years. We cater to him and I listen when he tells me things. I spend money there, and he gives me things, lots of things. He jokes with me and I pester him.

For example, two weeks ago there were two deer stand screw in steps laying there and he told TL to take them along, and say TL stole them. I heard that and I said, "I'm telling JYG that I kicked you out on the road as I could not abide stealing, and I did not know where you went or were". I did just that before Thanksgiving. JYG told TL the other day, "LC had me going for a bit with that one". I thought he had figured it out right away.

See JYG is our friend. He told me the other day in smarting off that, "This was for paying customers", meaning I was not one. I respect him and look up to him like an older brother. For that, he is very good to us and each of you if you put in the time with salvage people, you are going to find out that the junk they get for free they might just save things back for you if you tell them you are looking for things.
I'm in the process of getting some hog panels, which I can use for cattle feeders or cattle panels on Grandpa's. JYG remembers and knows I am not ruining what he is providing. As I said, if you can get into your landfill, get into your salvage dealers yards, and they get to know you, they will let you wander around without supervision like JYG does and when you need things, you just get them and they let you name the price.

The only thing bad about this is JYG has a brother, who JYG does not like, and he runs a yard too. Bro is a nice guy as he lets friends of ours sort through things. He gets in mostly appliances and that I would like to dig through as I could probably cobble together working washing machines with enough units. As though we are on JYG's side, we might get shot at. We have been known though to make the mistake of picking up some things from Bro and JYG sells that to us.

So that is your survival skill. I am not for making friends with hardened criminals, but the ones wise to the ways of the world are of benefit. We got more pots and pans and things from JYG than ever at the Thrift and most of them were free. I am going to go dig around for the old fuses that are now being replaced by breakers as JYG said he had some, which fell through the floor in a trailer, and I could pick them up before it snows. 12 bucks a box and I get them for almost nothing. Yes each of you should sincerely be making friends with junk dealers. They get to trust you in you keep your word, do not cause problems, obey their rules, and you might be able to give them a list of things to set out for you and if you do not leave them 10 years in the way, you will have a very cordial relationship of benefit to both.

I was just thinking before Anne's note how I was going to tell JYG that his salvage yard is the greatest place on earrth. He has people driving by, asking to take pictures as it is sort of like an amusement park for things he creates and sets up. He has this big WELCOME TO THE BRIER sign out front which just pisses the city leaders off, but as the chief of police just told him, "I'm tired of this. I am going to retire soon, You will retire and I am not bothering you anymore". See everyone loves JYG. He has no religion and is the most Christian I have ever come across in how he treats people.

JYG has saved us thousands of dollars on projects and things we just get. I love watching him work and create things. I ask him for advice and listen to what he says. My Grandpa's furnace just got fixed when no one else would come as people are busy here, including this guy, who happened to be JYG's friend. He came at 11 PM at night. I had left the house open. He is 100% trustworthy like JYG and he locked up when he was done.

See good people that you can trust, once you are in with them, they only deal with other good people, and your network expands immensely. It is like when Judas Priest helped JYG out in the trailer we got fom him to pull home. JP told us to pay whatever we thought, but I held out and said, "No what do you want". He said he got paid 250 bucks for just coming out. That is what we paid, he was happy and he is now part of this JYG network that when I need things done, I get things done as all of these people are self reliant, honest when it comes to people in the group, and you never have problems with them.

Stop making friends with the Goddamn rich people who don't give a damn about you. Make friends with people you can count on as they have friends like that too, then you have the survival system you need. But do not think you are going to snow these people, no more than any rural people. They know when they are being used and they will nail you for that. Just respect them, communicate with them like normal people do, and you will have a great deal of joy and access in your life.
