As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
So after 3 weeks I had the luxury to do the pricking around things.
People always want to know what I do as they rarely work and are curious about what I do.
So besides normal chores...
The poultry had broken out the back window of the pen, so something got in there and killed things. Think it was a coon. Plywood over window cut to fit. The day has begun and the clock is ticking
I think I began by taking off 2 blown tires. I had no idea that JYG pumps tires which were made when Reagan was in the White House to 40 pounds.
As I got two old tires from him, I had the spares, so took them off and went to town to get it done right.
They say never to put lube on lug nuts. I do if it is trailers or things which I am not pulling down the highway. As usual in old trailers, someone for as long as Kennedy was President, has not lubed them and so there is always a few that are bunged up. This trailer has two. Put on oil, and it solves it.
I noted the waste oil I was using for lube, smelled profusely of gasoline. Just a thing that happens.
So on the way to town, opened the gate at Grandpas and let the cattle into the pasture and watered them. They are in bad shape for the drought, so this will make them not in bad shape.
So got to town, off loaded the tires to be fixed.
Then went to the bank to actually cash two checks for my rural living. That money is already spent in planting and harvesting and buying hay last year.
Oh joy. Discovered my checkbook was gone.
As it would take 45 minutes went to JYG's to wander around. Was really cold and I am still really cold as I get that way when I am overworked and it is cold outside. I hate the cold. About the only place I warm up is bed or if I had donations, I would put an electric space heater on me, lay down in front of it, and bask in the heat.
I would rather have that situation than almost having money. I really need to recover.
Enough of JYG's he was hiding inside as it was cold, as he has sense.
Went back and got some funds out of the ATM as everyone wants what I have.
Went and picked up the tires. Prices have gone up. On our way home, first have to check cattle again and make sure they are staying put. All is well.
Now at home.
Put the tires back on the trailer.
Then went out and pulled dead Bruni behind the stock dam. She was lame as a calf, so had to keep her. Never bred for 2 years. Had a calf finally, milked great, now laying their dead. Calf is tame.
She is now in the bone pile place of honor. She looked very sad laying there dead.
OK, back home, time to do some welding on a gate in the stock trailer that did not stay welded. I was too meek in that welding. Was almost dark, trying to do good looking work, only popped it with 100 amps. First load of cattle it broke as the devil was against us as others in their black auras.
So amped her up to 135, and started a fire in the trailer, but it held. Was Nigger Rigged in no pissing around trying to get things straight this time. Just got in the crack deep and had things molten as is who I weld the hard stuff.
Got it too good if I had to cut it off again, checked it, and it actually was better than previously. Then again the pin is not going down into the trailer slot all the way. Not concerned as it is holding, It will work down or it will not break.
Oh had to replace the wood on the escape door in one cow broke the board I had just replaced. Damn sap wood knot. I thought I had it high enough, but of course it snapped. All the good wood goes to China.
Trailer is now tight as it should be. Still too much to do on it, but that is future tense.
Next up, let's clean all the farmer chit out of the wood wagon JYG put together for us. TL has to sit on the tongue as JYG built this perfectly balances so I sit on the end gate and the front comes up.
Found some nuts and bolts, of and an old spoon I will feature here as I love old spoons.
Put the bent to hell hubcap back on, me sitting on the ground, me beating on the hubcap with a plough hammer. It is on.
Went over with TL to check the cattle. Had a celebretory beer as it was a long day.
Moved the box trap to catch some vermin.
Cleaned out the pick up. No check book.
Decided it was a lost cause. Went in to get the new checks I ordered and there was the check book. Checked to made sure and it was. Out bank was sold, so we got a new one, and had a hell of a time activating accounts and getting into them in phone banking. Had problem that same time with credit card not working........spent like 3 hours on the phone getting that sorted out.
So back hurts, I ache, am tired and cold. That is the typical day in the Brier.
Wear lots of different hats in a day here in all the skills you have to have to survive.
Nuff Said
