It is difficult in this Bradley Cooper era of Hollywood hype snipers or the Canadian version which blows people to death miles away, in what a sniper is. Most of the time, the first word is not used, in SCOUT Sniper.
The legend Carlos Hathcock lectured on this, that a Marine Scout Sniper, the SCOUT came first. They watched enemy movements and gathered intelligence. The sniping was secondary in most missions.
The father of the Marine Sniper, was a purist in Major Jim Land. His snipers were trained and operated out of firebases. They walked off their base, with other squads and hunted to protect their own people that they ate and shit with.
The Army on the other hand, flew their snipers around on helicopters and made a big show of the production. A Scout Sniper is not even a wisp of smoke. He is unseen, only heard at the shot and he disappears.
The Marine Snipers were based on the German Snipers, and they had a very effective program in both world wars. It is a complete stealth operation in moving to an area, setting up, shitting in your pants if need be (The Germans dug latrines in their fire pit so they could shit without being seen moving around,) and then moving out unseen. It is a most professional undertaken, of entire discipline and zero ego.
Sgt. Hathcock ran into the same Marine trouble on his return tour as Major Land did on the initiation of the Snipers who were joined with Marine squads. The Marine officers thought it uncomely for a Marine to kill the enemy to save Marines. No Marines were to lay in the mud and get shot at by enemy snipers, but they were not to employ the same tactics.
When Hathcock returned to this second tour, the base commander had his Marines burning shitters all the time and the Snipers were Playboy centerfold posting in their quarters with dirty rifles. That all changed and the Snipers returned to killing silently and making sure that more Marines went home alive than in body bags.
That is what a Sniper is a for. It is to demoralize the enemy by killing them. The Sniper is to kill the enemy so the enemy is not killing Marines. The Sniper kill ratio is higher due to the effectiveness of the deployment of this special weapon of the squad.
The Scout is there first, to gather intelligence so operational command can develop thee most lethal means to destroy and kill the enemy in larger numbers, to save Marine lives. There is sound reasoning behind this.
Whatever woke fags are in charge of the Marines have for the past years been lusting for an aquatic war with China. They have given up their land armour and are now all for throwing in Marines without the full compliment of things that go bang on the ground from tanks to snipers. These officers seem to think that jets and missiles fly in all kinds of weather and that an enemy is going to wait around for good weather, while Marines under fire sodomize each other waiting for a missile 20 miles away to find a way to hit an enemy position that is killing three Marines every minute.

The Marine Corps is dismantling its iconic Scout Sniper platoons – a facet of each infantry battalion for generations – and is doing away with the coveted 0317 Military Occupational Specialty.
The product of a grueling training pipeline that yields field-ready precision marksmen qualified on the M40, M110, and M107 series rifles, the Marine Scout Sniper program is facing permanent disbandment as a result of a shifting focus in the country's amphibious warfare service.
A leaked Feb. 21 unclassified message from Lt. Gen. D. J. Furness, the deputy commandant for plans, policies, and operations, detailed that the current 18-member Scout Sniper Platoons assigned to the Corps’ infantry battalions will quickly transition to 26-member Scout platoons – in other words, cutting the snipers in favor of a unit that would provide more "continuous all-weather information gathering."
Spots in the Scout Sniper Basic Course will be zeroed out in the coming fiscal year while a nascent sniper capability will be continued in the Corps’ Reconnaissance and Marine Special Operations units under a new Military Occupational Specialty – 0322 MOS (Reconnaissance Sniper) – via a revamped, shorter training program.
The problem with that is, as these groups typically operate detached from standard infantry units, the highly specialized skill will in effect vanish at the battalion level, which will be left to get by with the current designated marksmen already at the company level. Under current doctrine, DMs typically only have a three-week course under their belt and train to engage targets out to 500 meters, rather than the much longer ranges that Scout Snipers train to achieve.
You will not understand the shorter training program unless you know what a Scout Sniper is. In order to achieve the skill level, a Scout Sniper must have his ass run off, be sweaty, breathing like a steam engine, and then have their instructor screaming at them, kicking them and firing a weapon by their head, and the expectation is that Marine will make the shot, because that is what the training requires.
You can not turn out a Scout Sniper in three weeks. It requires more training in being a Scout than a Sniper or some clever enemy with thermal imaging or having been trained to sit and observe for hours, is going to send that Marine back to America in a body bag.
Getting in and out of a location is the deadliest and most vulnerable time for any Scout.
But we have in store Island Warfare from the Marine officers. That means Marines on ships, slow moving ships, or Marines in slow moving planes in a hypersonic world, where it will be easy for China to hypersonic terminate Marines as they will all be concentrated. Islands are really wonderful kill zones for Chinese hypersonic missiles as the landing craft, ships and landing zones are all concentration kill zones, where the shock of the missile will kill thousands of these Marines with just a few missiles.
The Marine officers are not explaining that part in this genocide of Marines, and how the survivors being cut off will be slaughtered just like Grubber Zellinskyy's fodder was at Bakhmut in Ukraine.
Here is the rule. You want China to over extend and expose itself on islands, where you can blow the bajesus out of them with weapons of mass destruction. You do not want Chinese dug in to islands, and then to hit them with the flesh of Marines. Okinawa taught the horrid lesson that massive American firepower did nothing and the Japanese waited in deep caves and killed and maimed lots of Marines.
What the Marine corp is undertaking is like most of it's history, in it generates lots of dead Marines, because their leadership is the poor man's Navy and having shit supplies, the Marines are left to die before the enemy.
I quit trying to understand what kind of mental incompetents still are signing up for this up the anus military that America has, that vaxes people to death, because they are Darwins and the Marine corps is making them candidates for extinction.
