The Wagner Musicians revealed their strategy and tactics in the battle of Bakhmut. They are simple and effective due to the discipline shown by the Wagner group. I have prepared a visual below to explain what the Russians are deploying with great success. I will do a little explaining before you read the quote below which will explain the photos.
The Nazi are in GREEN. The Russians in BLUE. The reason this is working for Russia is Russia is neutralizing the artillery, drones, satellites and forward spotters of Russian forces.
The Russians drove the Nazi out of Bakhmut. Zellinskyy then orders a mirror image of the Russian companies which drove the Nazis out in small companies.
What Russia does is hold a fortified position which Ukraine makes contact with. This is grabbing these attacking Nazi companies of 20 to 40 forced conscripts by the nose as General Patton would explain.
Once engaged, the Russians deploy two flanking operations from concealed companies, which then hit the Nazi in their rear.
As the encirclement is completed, a screen force is deployed to keep Nazi reinforcements from advancing.
Once the main force is pinned, it is cut off, and it is killed with thermobaric bombs which suck the oxygen out of the air and direct RPG fire or artillery.
However, the new reserves are occupying old targeted positions, leaving them vulnerable. To advance in the city, Wagner PMC employs semi-interception tactics. This is when Ukrainian units (from one or two companies) are enclosed in a ring and destroyed, and the area where the operation takes place is then blocked off so that the Ukrainian forces cannot quickly bring in reinforcements.
These tactics have already begun to significantly increase losses for the Ukrainian Armed Forces and lead to an acute shortage of reserves. The number of Ukrainian soldiers killed and wounded since the beginning of April exceeds the number of reinforcements received. As the Russian Armed Forces advance on Artyomovsk from the flanks (north and south), more and more Ukrainian reserves are being killed on the roads between Chasov Yar and Artyomovsk’s western quarters.
This is how the Wagner Musicians are destroying the Nazi's of Kiev by 20's and 40's to an added tens of thousands this past month.
It is a hell of a way to die. It is methodical and surgical in this brutal obliteration of Nazi forces. This urban warfare is the worst fighting. What is remarkable in this is how effective this Wagner Group is in this urban warfare, in dealing with these forces, which is much superior than Stalin in Stalingrad or Berlin. These MERCs are enacting a textbook in how to fight in an urban jungle and win, and then turning it over to the Russian main forces.
The Russians have all these locations bore sighted. Meaning they have already regulated their artillery in past battles on these positions.
Not to help the Nazi, but the correct strategy would have been for Kiev to withdraw to a hardened position of advantage and when the Russian forces advanced to attack, to kill the Russians. The problem is that is what NATO orchestrated for over a year, and the Russians killed the Nazi's, won the battles and drove the Nazi from those superior positions.
That is the Catch 22 in this. NATO designed this, but the Russians are reading the design and using it against Kiev, once they occupy those same positions.
