I came across this typical woke article based on another Nixonphobic reading of history, and this time the mention was "What did Donald Trump know about Russian interference in US elections".
What was at stake were the 1968 AD in the year of our Lord, presidential elections in America. President Lyndon Johnson had made a disaster out of Vietnam and the kids being sent over to be slaughtered were part of the CIA MKULTRA operation to counter culture America, were not supporting more Johnson blundering and slaughter.
Johnson's Vice president, in Hubert Humphrey was the democratic nominee and Nixon had a commanding lead, but steadily through political machinations, Humphrey was closing the gap due to the power of the presidency. The final straw would be LBJ's attempt to announce another halt in the war for peace which would elect Humphrey.
Nixon of course was distressed by this manipulation of foreign policy for an election, and was involved in attempting to stop this process. For this Nixon is castigated for his actions. Read on after the quote and we will learn more.

There was another democrat candidate for president, who actually was working with America's enemy too in the Soviet Union, to try and keep himself in office, that would be Jimmy Carter.
Carter also would boast that if he had just started a war with Iran he would have been re elected. Small chance of that, but it reveals a pattern in these political democrats in working with American enemies or contemplating starting wars to keep themselves in office.
No mention of Lyndon Johnson's smear of Barry Goldwater in using nuclear war to terrify Americans to not vote for Goldwater in 1964 either. As long as democrats won their dirty dealings were kosher, but if a Republican was victorious, then suddenly there was a great crime.
Ronald Reagan was accused of dealing with the Iranians to defeat Jimmy Carter, without proof. Then there was the U2 spy plane that flew George HW Bush to Paris on secret missions, again no proof.
In essence what Richard Nixon was focused on, is what he stated, in he was convinced that democrats were going to put Vietnam into a communist regime and then Richard Nixon would be stuck like all of America in trying to deal with that disaster.
Nixon was again castigated by the author for expanding the war in Vietnam. The reality is that escalation terrified the North Vietnamese who then started treating American POW's better. The Christmas bombing is what forced the communists of Hanoi to make peace and end the war.
It would though be another CIA democrat coup, against Richard Nixon at Watergate which would seal the fate of South Vietnam and waste 65,000 American lives, again all for democrats to get control of the White House again, and this time for the disaster of Soviet colluding Jimmy Carter.
The woke of this world can always justify their crimes, while always seeing every action by others as the worst crime in history.
