As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
I was sad when I read that Randall Herman Meisner was dead. Lots of things left me sad about Randy Meisner, in the way the Eagles mistreated him, as he was honestly the talent in that band along with Joe Walsh on lead guitar.
I always wondered what Meisner was doing in Scottsbluff Nebraska, and the answer was he was born there. He was Volga German, a farm kid.
The Eagles sucked under Don Henley as he could not sing any more than Stevie Nicks could sing. If you heard Take It To The Limits, that was Randy Meisner in quality voice. Always thought his bass genius was personified by One of these Nights in that acoustic opening which has never been replicated.
I think Meisner just burned out in the Eagles. Glenn Fry was a waste, as he had zero talent as The Heat Is On proved, as much as he died of being a dope head.
Never thought much of that Tim Schmidt either in his crappy song who replaces Meisner.
In fact the only other Eagles song which ever mattered was one that Glenn Fry and Don Henley fought to keep off the album, it was Bernie Leadon's Journey of the Sorcerer. Leadon like Meisner quit the band after that, and the two pariahs had their control of the band. They never produced anything worth a shit after that. Hotel California was supposed to be their Opus, but Walsh just plays his typical patterns in the instrumental and who the hell can listen to that Don Henley squalling around like Yoko Ono.
Hey I like Joe Walsh, his Life's Been Good To Me So Far, was a very good song. If he could have brought that lead guitar to the Eagles, the band would have accomplished something. It was all done when Don Felder who wrote with Meisner, Too Many Hands, was booted from the band by the pariahs.
The best music had the best people involved.
I hope Mr. Meisner has peace now as thankfully the Eagles are dead and will never return. Meisner stopped the arguing long ago, and whatever else was still being said was all on the other side. Now it is his music which remains the hallmark of a dysfunctional band of liberals.
It always happens that the people with talent get smothered, by those who think they have talent and all they do is fade away.
