The Dutch military allowed the photographing of American B61 12 nuclear dial a bomb weapons. As the Netherlands are a long way from Russia in these F 35's this is not that great of a threat to Moscow.
It is though the Dutch release of video that the Bulgarian military posted which was interesting, for the information posted connected with it on these new B 61's. The Lame Cherry did a screen grab of the launch from an F 35, the same would be the case for older American jets. The video shows a bomb release and falling from height, and then a peculiar looking after burner igniting. As the description explains though, they are inertial or they free fall and use a tail kit like JDAMS.

A photograph was released showing the RNLAF’s F-35A equipped with the test variants of the B61-12 nuclear bombs. The B61-12 is a massive 825-pound, 12-foot-long weapon, replete with an inertial navigation system [INS] for guidance. The bomb includes both new elements – such as a precision guiding tail kit – and reconditioned components with varied yields, derived from older B61 models.
The assortment of approximately 150 older B61-type nuclear bombs currently stored across six European bases is expected to be replaced by the B61-12 variants. These bases are spread throughout Belgium, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, the Dutch Volkel Air Base houses between ten and fifteen B61 nuclear bombs which are deployed by the Royal Netherlands Air Force’s [RNLAF] F-16s
The F 35 is a stealth aircraft. It flies slow. The idea of stealth is to fly low as what the B 52 relied on in hugging the ground on bombing missions in nuclear war. I had thought the F 35's hugged the ground and released their nuclear weapons for a "fly like a bat out of hell for your life" detonation to get away from the blast site.
What is being revealed is an altitude attack. That means an ascent, which Russian S 400 and S 500's will track and shoot down. With all due respect, a nuclear device this large can be tracked by Russian SAMs and shot down.
The F 35 is as this blog defined, a suicide mission jet. These tactical platforms are designed as such because American air, sea and land based missiles are worthless as a triad of defense or first strike, The F 35 is only a first strike weapon and designed as such. Reel this back and the F 35 looks like a red herring. It was a very expensive gadget to catch Russia looking in a direction as Russia will be struck from space.
The F 35 violates all American doctrine on attack mission flight. It will have to be air fueled.........those jets show up on Russian radar on long distance runs and no military can mass jets on the Russian border without Russia obliterating the base with hypersonics.
None of this computes on the surface. It only makes sense with the F 35 as a red herring.
The Lame Cherry doubts that superior technology will be 100% certain to neutralize every Russian platform and these peoples are notorious for putting nuclear devices in pre positions in not relying on things that fly through the air.
The B 61's are too far out and have to come from too high for those tail packages to work. That is a limitation of weapon and a weapon of limited capability. What has not changed is attempting to draw Russia out. Ukraine did not work. Gaza through Iran is designed to draw Russia out. This is a B 61 shell game.
