Metal Maiden

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

I like being a well rounded girl, and most things fascinate me in existential experience, as I relish learning from people in their different vocations as it is all million dollar knowledge.

So when JYG was getting in high transmission power lines for scrap, it interested me and it is fascinating in the different rates of twist in the cables, the way electric cable is made, as some has a steel center as aluminum stretches sometimes it is one wire, sometimes 5, sometimes there are combinations, but if you are in the salvage business, you either ship prepared metal or scrap. There is a big difference if metal is sorted and cut to size. That is what JYG does and that is why he gets higher prices.

So when we started our quilting bee in talking to JYG was we unwound these cables, it was fun and hand dirty work as the metal all ..........tends to as NS said about carbon tracking, produce a corona which makes a kind of grey powder on everything.

It is not that bad unwinding wire and sorting steel wires, about a #11 gauge from the aluminum, as if you can not tell, you tap it on the magnet and the steel sticks........aluminum does not. Most you can tell by colour and size as the steel is a bit smaller, maybe a #12 gauge, but JYG had one spool which was all hard and stiff, even the aluminum. That was fascinating in why it was that way.

JYG finally concluded that he would not have to unwind the wires if he cut them shorter, and that brings us to the sheers. His is an ancient cast iron rig, on wheels, that with a flat belt, is run off a Wisconsin engine. After doing it for a bit, he asked me if I wanted to run it cutting the cable. Took two times asking, but it was really a tard job, and as long as you do not stick your hand in the shears, you can not get hurt, unless some girl cuts a cable and slaps JYG with it, or some girl has shorts on and gets cut on the cable ends.

I cut up two rolls of cable, and it amazed me in how little of a pile it made when you cut it into little pieces, about nail length long. I finished up with the other short pieces JYG had cut, and then we ran out of gas, as that was a gallon, but we were all ready to quit as it makes the back hurt in, it is tedious work.

I could not even find a picture of anything close to what JYG has to show you. It is just a huge metal shears, with metal grears about as big as a table, with an equally big flywheel. It works as fast as I could feed it, and I did the tard job, TL was unwinding cable JYG had and JYG was sorting through the cable wires I was cutting.

I enjoyed myself as I had more experience in life that 99% other people would never be exposed to.  You never realize what it takes to run a salvage yard, until you start unloading things and sorting as JYG knows exactly what goes where, what prices are paid for what and how to get the most out of a load.

Put it this way, China invades and a China gets to thinking about ass raping you, but you say, "You see those piles of tanks over there? I know how to salvage them in what the metal is worth and how to process it." The Chinaman PLA General says, "Go to work LC, we will rape that mob over there and eat them as you have value we can exploit".

See even when I'm at play, I'm still accomplishing something as I know what kind of world is going to appear.
