A Load of Clothes for Jesus

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

This is one of these lessons in we can fix things, but in the end, washing machines are not designed to survive past 5 years. We got 7 out of our Maytag Centennial, as we babied the thing, even though the Mother wore it out in abuse feeding Poot the cat so it was  shitting all over everything.

Another story.

So I fixed the Centennial with an actuator. That last 3 washes and then it started making grinding sounds like the transmission and it spun like a tornado.  I was praying it would last until Jesus came, but in May I was greeted with water in the porch, as the seal went out. Yes tranny problems, wears the seal out. So we were washing clothes in town to see what came up.

What came up was the Speed Queen 25 year washing machine. Yeah, I did research, read feedback and those things are starting to cause problems too and when you are looking at a 1500 dollar machine, that is allot of money to throw away.

So I got moved to visit our appliance store and we talked to the gal there and she mentioned this Maytag which with hoses and taxes was 1100 bucks. She said she had bought one and liked it. Just uses the short wash cycle. So as this machine was made to compete with the Speed Queen was less expensive, and voila came with a 5 year warranty if it went to shit, they would fix it, yes the store services all they sell, that sold me and that is what we invested in.

As she put it, 5 years a washer pays for itself, goes to shit and you have to buy another. Is a current fact of life.

I got a plumber to hook this one up as I was not going to break the shut off valves and cost me a bundle more. He mentioned he just bought one of these too and they liked it.

I like the machine. It washes well on tap water. I think it pricks around too much in changing so it might wear out more, but it is really a light touch to activate, a real delicate woman's touch, and it runs through the cycle in under 20 minutes.

It was a big investment, but machines in town cost 2.50 for the small ones , 4 bucks for the big ones, and I hate using public prion shit now, and our last machine at 600 bucks, paid for itself by the 4th year, and if I do a small load every day, at 2.50, times 365,  that is over 900 bucks a year. The machine will pay for itself in a year and a half. I will not be washing big ticket items in this, that is what the 4 dollar machines are for in chore clothes filth or blankets the cat puked on.

I  do not like front load machines as my stupid sister had one, and they never did have that bolted to the floor right and it really acted like it want to roll over and play dead. So that is why I go top load and this one is a big girl, so it will handle all I ever want to put into it.
This model really does not have a name. It is the one without a removable agitator as that looked like something else to break and it has limited 10 year parts warranty on it too, so while I would prefer the dials as Maytag has a similar commercial residential model, this is what they had and this is what we got.

It does have Wifi you can program, but that is just spying on what a person does, as what good is it to start a washing machine from your phone, as the washer is not going to load itself.

In any case, I have JYG's old model from a rental sitting on Grandpas and another back up just in case Jesus delays on the return.  This thing should last Jesus return and I suppose I can do a load of clothes  for Him when he stops by.
